Friday November 4, 2011 Whitefish Bay's Historic Run Ended by the Waterford Wolverines, 17-0 The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes varsity football team hung up their spikes for the year after losing to a very strong defensive eleven in the Waterford Wolverines. Bay sniffed pay dirt on a couple of occasions, but either their own errors or staunch defensive play kept them out of the end zone. This team has nothing to be ashamed of and much of which to be proud, accomplishing something no other Bay team has ever done by getting to the third round of the WIAA playoffs. One should, perhaps, look back at this game as the precursor of next year's season. With the graduation of only eight excellent seniors in Patrick Rose (interception, by the way), Matt Traudt (great tackling against Waterford), Deontaye Brown (17 carries for 66 yards), John Platzer, Mike Letizia, Ryan Drews, Connor Weas and Lenny Hansen, the plethora of talent in the current juniors and sophomores bodes well for Coach Jim Teitjen's squad next year.Things to keep an eye out for next year include the continued development of the offensive line and quarterbacks Grant Menard and Joe Sherburne. The receiving core of Darien Walker (3 receptions for 10 yards), Jackson Weber and Ian Buchanan (5 receptions for 43 yards) don't drop many and will give Menard great targets as well as confidence that these boys can haul in almost any ball thrown their way. The kicking game in sophomore Colin Downing is already at the collegiate level, so with some adjustments on special teams and filling some graduation holes on defense, fans should already be excited about next year. While the boys may be a little down about how they went out, they should be more than proud of their accomplishments. So, if you happen to see one of these great kids, and you know he played on that team, you might want to pat him on the back, tell him you're really proud of him and can't wait to see them beat the "you know what" out of Homestead and Cedarburg next year. That's all for this season. Back and better than ever next year!
Saturday, October 29, 2011 Blue Dukes Make History with Playoff Win over the Brookfield East Spartans, 40-21 The autumn weather cooperated with what was portending to become a historic night in the annals of the Whitefish Bay High School football program. With the 40-21 win, the 2011 edition of the varsity Blue Dukes accomplished what no other team has been able to do in the storied history of the program - win a second round playoff game. It was truly a team effort, with stalwart play by both the offensive and defensive lines, as well as those in skilled positions on both sides of the ball, and of course, the kicking game. With Rashadeem Gray leading the way on the ground (24 carries, 183 yards and 2 touchdowns) and the Grant Menard to Jackson Weber duo staring through the air (4 receptions, 94 yards and 2 touchdowns), fans saw the most balanced attack by the Blue Dukes this season. Deontaye Brown added another 88 yards on the ground to complement his fabulous performance last week, and Darien Walker aided the air attack with three receptions for 52 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Jeremiah Holt stopped a first quarter Spartan drive with an interception, and Jordan Johnson added a critical "int" to stonewall a Brookfield drive late in the fourth quarter. The only disappointing aspect to Bay's dominance of the Spartans was revealed in the special teams, which allowed 90 and 92 yard kickoff returns for touchdowns from the Spartans' Mike Amato. Those two plays were truly "Amato Driven"! - but they were certainly not enough to overshadow the true dominance of Whitefish Bay. Even though the score at halftime had Bay up 30-7, what salted the game away was the play of both Blue Duke lines in the third quarter. The Spartans came out doing what they do best - run the football. While this opening drive resulted in Brookfield's only offensive score, it was the Bay defense that made them use 7:41 of the clock to accomplish it. Subsequently, Bay began its own drive on its own 20 yard line and used the rest of the third quarter and a minute of the fourth to tack on a field goal. With less than a quarter remaining to catch the Blue Dukes, even Amato's second kickoff return could not get the Spartans closer than 12 points. Weber's 20 yard TD reception was icing on the cake. Last but not least, mention needs to be made of Bay's one man kicking game. With supreme extra point and field goal accuracy, booming kickoffs and spectacular punts, Colin Downing is a gift that should keep on giving for the next two years. Up next for the Blue Dukes, in their historic third round playoff game, will be the Waterford Wolverines at Lubar Stadium. Check your emails from "Gus" to nail down the date and time, then show up and bring your "loud voice"!
Friday, October 21, 2011 Bay Dismantles Trojans' Playoff Dreams, 58-24 After the last two games played by Whitefish Bay, a route by Homestead and a cake walk over Grafton, no one expected to see a track meet in the first round of the WIAA playoffs. But that's what Bay's game against the Bradley Tech Trojans turned out to be last Friday night. With Deontaye Brown leading the way with 247 yards and 6 touchdowns on 16 carries, Bay burst the Trojan's dreams of continued playoff games, 58-24. Bay garnered a total of 418 yards rushing, with Jordan Johnson (6 for 74 yards and 1 TD) and Rashadeem Gray (7 for 78 yards) supplementing Brown's record night. Tack on a 70 yard interception and return for a touchdown by Jackson Weber, as well as safety and that accounts for most of the scoring. With the score 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, not many could foresee the outbursts on both sides that would define the second and third quarters. By the end of the half, the score was 30-6 in favor of Bay, and by the end of the third quarter, the Blue Dukes had stretched their lead to an insurmountable 51-24. While the passing game was pretty much nowhere to be found, it wasn't needed on this night of the running back. Brown had runs of 67, 66 and 39 to highlight his amazing performance. Mention should also be made of sacks by Pat Rose and Jackson Weber (for a safety) as well as excellent tackling by Michael Loyda, Jacob Pandl and Weber. Round 2 of the playoffs finds Bay traveling to Brookfield East to take on the Spartans in a Saturday afternoon tilt starting at 4 p.m. Since the sun (hopefully) will still be adding some warmth to the day, there is no excuse not to come out and support the Blue Dukes in their quest for a state championship. See you all there!
Friday, October 14, 2011 Blue Dukes Knock Off Knights, 35-6, to Secure Playoff Spot The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes rebounded nicely from its game against Homestead to qualify for the WIAA playoffs, scheduled to begin next week. With all of Bay's scoring occurring in the first half, excellent performances were displayed by many of the skilled position players. With consistent high quality play from the Duke's offensive line, Rashadeem Gray (9 carries, 80 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Deontaye Brown (6 carries, 31 yards, 2 touchdowns) ran at will against the Knight's defense. Quarterback Grant Menard was able to complete five out of eight pass attempts to Darien Walker, Jackson Weber and Ian Buchanan for 109 yards to keep the defense honest. Highlights included a 58 yard Menard to Walker pass for a touchdown, an interception by Jacob Pandl and a fumble recovery by Patrick Rose.Head Coach Jim Tietjen chose to give his reserve players most of the playing time in the second half. Both Turner Demuth (2 carries for 27 yards) and Ben Lehrmann (2 carries for 21 yards) turned in excellent running performances. About the only excitement of the second half came in the last couple of minutes after Whitefish Bay botched a punt deep in their own territory, giving the Knights the ball on Bay's 19 yard line. Four plays later, with 31 seconds left in the game, Nicolet pushed the ball into the end zone for their only score of the game. The two point conversion attempt failed, making the final score Whitefish Bay 35, the Nicolet Knights 6.With at least one playoff game guaranteed by their conference record, the Blue Dukes await the parings that will be announced sometime late Monday, October 17th. Keep an eye out, and wherever and whenever the Dukes are playing, get out there and support your team.
Thursday, October 13, 2011 Freshman close out the season on top. Whitefish Bay 27 Nicolet 0 - The freshman Blue Dukes won their last game of the season on a rain soaked slippery field. The offense was led by Jaren Walker, who ran for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns and John Leckie who ran for 100 yards and one touchdown. Adam Strehlow added 52 yards rushing and 47 return yards. The defense was led by a balanced tackling effort with Steve Meyer and John Turner making key tackles for losses. A quarterback sack by Matthew Deakin foiled a fake punt attempt by the Knights.
Thursday, October 6, 2011 Outplayed In Every Facet, Homestead Routes Bay, 42-7. With the precision of a surgeon, the Homestead Highlanders carved up the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes last Friday, both on the ground and through the air. The Highlanders' top three running backs sliced through a porous Bay defense for 229 yards, while their air attack yielded 212 yards against an out-matched Bay secondary. While Bay's rushing attack of Rashadeem Gray (9 carries for 85 yards), Julian Posey (9/63) and Deontaye Brown (3/34) was respectable, the complete omission of a passing game made the Blue Dukes one-dimensional and easy pickings for a very good Homestead team. The end of the first quarter saw Bay only trailing by seven, but by the time the half had ended, the Highlanders had completed four consecutive scoring drives to up their lead to 28-7. The third and fourth quarters were dominated by long, methodical Highlander drives, highlighted by excellent play calling that smartly mixed up their running and passing plays. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Homestead completed a 15-play drive to cap the scoring at 42-7. With a running clock for the remainder of the game, Bay had little opportunity to narrow the deficit and make the score respectable. Time finally ran out on the Blue Dukes, ending what was the most lopsided game between these two bitter rivals in recent memory. The few bright spots for Bay came from the relentless play of the defense, which spent most of the game on the field. Great tackling by Mike Letizia, Jackson Weber and Jacob Pandl kept the final result from getting any worse. Whitefish Bay hopes to rebound next Friday in its final conference game against Nicolet. If the Blue Dukes are thinking playoffs, this is a must-win for the club. The fun starts at Lubar Field at 7 p.m. Come out and cheer your Blue Dukes to a playoff bound victory!
Wednesday, October 5, 2011 JV wins at Homestead.
Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Homestead 21 Whitefish Bay 14 - The freshman Blue Dukes lost their last home game to Mequon's Homestead. Whitefish Bay rushed for over 140 yards. Jaren Walker led the team in rushing with 86 yards. Walker and Dre'Vonn Morris scored the two Blue Duke touchdowns. Sam Weber and McMahon had four tackles each, and Joseph Martinez-Ortiz, Isaac Leland, and John Leckie had three tackles each.
Saturday, October 1,2011 JV overpowers Grafton.
Friday, September 30, 2011Black Hawks Downed, 43-7 September went out with a bang for the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes as they continued their winning ways against the outmanned Grafton Black Hawks. After fumbling on the first play of the game, (recovered by John Platzer) things only got worse for Grafton. Starting on the opponent's 20 yard line, Deontaye Brown (8 carries for 43 yards) ultimately ran three yards for the six points. On their next series, the Black Hawks gave the Dukes great field position on the 49 after turning the ball over on downs. After good runs from Brown and Rashadeem Gray (9 carries for 102 yards, 2 receptions for 61 yards, and 5 touchdowns), Grant Menard (8 attempts, 4 completions) tossed a short 5-yard pass to Gray for the touchdown. Bay's next drive consisted of three plays and, after a short screen pass from Menard, a 56 yard jaunt by Gray for another six points. At the end of the first quarter, Bay led 21-0. The second quarter ultimately led to a 43-0 half time score. Gray had touchdown runs of 45, 21 and 9 yards. Throw in a successful two point conversion, an interception by Jackson Weber and a Grafton fumble and the fans were treated to those three scoring drives. Time seemed to fly by in the second half. However, Grafton did draw blood on its first drive, culminating an eleven play effort with a score. After that, Coach Jim Tietjen substituted liberally, getting reserves and junior varsity players some game time experience. Joe Sherburne took over at quarterback and Ben Lehrmann at running back, both acquitting themselves admirably, as did others such as Michael Loyda, Jonathan Leuthner, Michael Kim, Luke Henricks, Dane Fleck, Ryan Olver, Michael Fiedler, Joe Beck, Austin Steinmetz, Riley Breitenbach, Dan Pettay, Rhashad Gray, and German exchange student, Lenny Hansen. Mention should be made of Weber's two interceptions, and quarterback sacks by Quentin Dismukes, Pat Rose and Julian Posey. The Blue Dukes now only need one more conference win to be playoff-eligible, and they are looking to get that next Thursday against hated rival Homestead in their house. Hope to see you there, as the boys sure need a raucous crowd cheering them on.
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Grafton 21 Whitefish Bay 15 - The freshman Blue Dukes experienced a heart breaking loss on a last second touchdown by the Black Hawks, even after Whitefish Bay forced a safety and quickly scored on a 50 yard touchdown reception by John Lecke. The Blue Dukes' Dre'Vonn Morris led the team in rushing with 98 yards. Conner Claiborne scored the other Blue Duke touchdown. On defense, Matthew Deakin and Steve Meyer recovered fumbles, and Isaac Leland intercepted a pass deep in their own territory to end a Black Hawk drive. Isaiah Johnson, Steve Meyer, and Michael Strode led the defense in tackles with four each.
Friday, September 23, 2011- Blue Dukes Sink Pirates, 41-6 It was just what the doctor ordered. After letting second half leads slip away in its last two games, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes played two excellent halves on both sides of the ball to blast the Port Washington Pirates into oblivion and even their record to 3-3, 2-2 in the Northshore conference. After an early score by Port, the Blue Dukes came out with guns blazing as they scored the final 41 points, on the ground and through the air. On the ground, Rashadeem Gray carried the ball 15 times for 150 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by touchdown runs of 57 and 16 yards. Deontaye Brown and Julian Posey were a strong supporting cast. Brown carried 14 times for 106 yards and Posey 8 times for 87 yards, including a 63 yard scamper down to the Pirate's 4 yard line late in the fourth quarter. Jordan Johnson also contributed to the running attack with three carries for 48 yards. Jeremiah Holt also carried three times for 22 yards. Even the Blue Duke's anemic air attack showed signs of a renaissance. While quarterback Grant Menard only through seven times, he completed shorter passes that resulted in positive gains. The passing game was highlighted by a 13 yard pass completion to Ian Buchanan, who turned it into a 28 yard touchdown reception. Menard's other completions went to Jackson Weber for 12 yards and Gray for 17. This game report wouldn't be complete without props going out to the entire offensive line in the persons of Jacob Carlson, Ryan Drews, Bobby Linneman, Will Shanley, Graydon Peterson and Quinten Dismukes. Also the excellent punting, kickoffs, PAT conversions and two successful field goal attempts of Colin Downing helped secure the victory. Lastly we'd be remiss if mention wasn't made of athletic interceptions by Weber and Jacob Pandl as well as QB sacks by Bobby Linneman and Mike Letizia. Finally, we can't forget some great tackling on defense by John Platzer, Pandl, Letizia, Weber, Michael Loyda and Alec Monaghan. The Blue Dukes hope to extend their winning ways next Friday night at 7 p.m. in a home contest against the Grafton Black Hawks. How about "DVRing" Kitchen Nightmares and coming out to support your team? See you there!

Thursday, September 22, 2011: Whitefish Bay 48 Port Washington 0 - In their third consecutive win, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes overpowered the Port Washington Pirates on both the offense and defense. The freshman Blue Dukes scored seven touchdowns and rushed for over 295 yards. Adam Strehlow scored two touchdowns as he marched the team down the field. Jaren Walker scored two touchdowns of 48 and 76 yards. The remaining three TDs were scored by John Leckie, Dre'Vonn Morris, and Mitch Rogers. The Blue Dukes defense shut down any attempts by the Pirates to score with sacks by Taj Carter, Kevin Hobbins, and Steve Meyer and pressure on the QB from Broderick Earl forcing an incomplete pass. Fumble recoveries by Isaac Leland and Steve Meyer also enabled Whitefish Bay to stop Port Washington's momentum. Taj Carter and Steve Meyer led the defense in tackles.
Friday, September 16, 2011: Red Knights Slay Dukes with Second Half Comeback, 33-23. For the third time in the last four games, the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes entered a second half with the lead and let it slip away. This time it was Milwaukee Lutheran that staged a dramatic comeback to win the game and spoil homecoming for hundreds of Bay players, fans and alumni. After exchanging downs, the Red Knights began the scoring with a five play 65 yard touchdown drive. However, after a subsequent fumble by the Knights, the Blue Dukes were starting in Knight's territory at their 14. Rashadeem Gray promptly ran ten yards for the touchdown, evening the score at 7-7. Another Knight fumble gave Whitefish Bay the ball on the Knight's 37, but the Dukes couldn't capitalize and turned the ball over on downs at the Knight's 10. Nevertheless, after a Knight punt and 42 yard return by Rashadeem Gray, the Dukes were back in business at the Knight 30 as the quarter ended.Once again, the Dukes couldn't convert the opportunity into points and turned the ball over on downs. But, fortune seemed to be smiling on the Dukes as the Knights once again fumbled, giving Whitefish Bay the ball on the Knight 33. After runs by Posey and Gray, this time Grant Menard connected with Jackson Weber for a fifteen yard touchdown pass. Milwaukee Lutheran started its next series on its own 35, trailing for the first time in the game, 14-7. The Dukes took over on downs. Starting at its own 12, Menard immediately hit Ian Buchanan for a 14 yard gain. Turning to the ground game, Posey, Gray and Jordan Johnson battered the Knight's line, taking the Dukes down to the opponent's 9. After a Menard run, the closest the Dukes could come to pay dirt was the 5 yard line. Settling for a Colin Downing field goal, the Dukes upped their lead to 17-7 going into half time. After trading series to open the third quarter, Menard was intercepted, giving the Knights the ball on the Duke's 49. Milwaukee Lutheran took advantage and engineered a seven play drive for a touchdown, closing the gap to 17-14. After a 45 yard kickoff return by Gray, Whitefish Bay had another short field to deal with, starting on the Knights 40. But once again, the Dukes couldn't push the ball into the end zone, and walked away with another three points courtesy of Mr. Downing. On the ensuing series, Milwaukee Lutheran struck back with a vengeance. Capped by a thirty yard pass play, the Knights completed a five play drive for a score. The extra point was blocked, leaving the scoring after three quarters tied at 20. But fortune seemed to be smiling on the Dukes as they began yet another series in Knight territory at their 45 yard line as the quarter ended. Jeremiah Holt blasted through the defense for 15, and that was followed by positive runs from Posy, Gray and Deontaye Brown. But once again, the Dukes couldn't finish and settled for a 33 yard Downing field goal, and taking the lead back at 23-20. Curiously, on the ensuing kickoff, the Dukes tried an on-sides kick which failed, giving the Knights the ball on their own 49. Two plays later and after a 40 yard run, Milwaukee Lutheran was back in the lead for good at 27-23. Whitefish Bay tried in vain to march down the field, using runs by Gray, Brown and Menard. Ultimately, the closest the Dukes got was the Knight's 18, where they turned it over on downs. Rubbing salt into the wound, the Knights capped the night's scoring with a six play touchdown drive, making the final score Knights 33- Dukes 23. Many great plays were made in defeat, including two blocked extra points by Jacob Pandl, two quarterback sacks by Tyler Terveer, fumble recoveries by Terveer and Jackson Weber, and solid tackling by Weber, Pandl, Matt Traudt, Will Shanley, and Bobby Linneman. The Dukes next conference opponent is away at the Port Washington Pirates on Friday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!

John Leckie put the Blue Dukes in excellent scoring position with kickoff returns of 45 and 25 yards. Joe Kaszubowski made five of his six extra point attempts and a field goal. After the Red Knights' kickoff return for a touchdown and 2-point conversion, the Blue Dukes defensive attack managed to keep the Red Knights in poor field position, forced two turnovers, and shut down any further scoring attempts.

This led to a heart-breaking last second loss for the second time in four games. The first half was all Whitefish Bay. The first quarter was highlighted by consistent running by Rashadeem Gray, Julian Posey, and Jordan Johnson. Grant Menard garnered 18 yards on a run, and Jackson Weber had a 22 yard punt return. After Menard ran 5 yards for a score, the quartered ended with the Blue Dukes up, 7-0. The second quarter was more of the same. After Cedarburg fumbled on its own 27, Johnson took the ball 36 yards on a reverse for the second Bay score. The half ended with the Blue Dukes up, 14-0.While things started promising for the Dukes, the second half was pedigree Bulldog. After Mike Letizia recovered a muffed Cedarburg snap, the Dukes were in good shape on their own 40 yard line. After a number of successful runs by Posey, Johnson and Gray, an attempted pass by Menard was intercepted in the end zone. The Bulldogs came roaring back with a drive that yielded three points, cutting Bay's lead at the end of the third quarter to 14-3. Going to the air with greater frequency, the Bulldogs began to put together drive after drive. After eight plays, coupled with a pass interference call on Bay, the Bulldogs punched through for a score and a two-point conversion to tighten the score to 14-11. After Bay turned the ball over on downs, Cedarburg started at the Dukes 45 yard line, and ultimately scored on a 21 yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs took their first lead, 18-14. Whitefish Bay returned to what it seems to do best, running the football. With gashing runs from Deontaye Brown, Johnson, Posey, and Gray, Brown ultimately scored from the 1 yard line. This put the Dukes back on top, 21-18, with 3 minutes remaining. The win was not to be, however, as the Bulldogs drove seven plays to score and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as time ran out. Germantown had held their prior opponents scoreless in their first two victories while amassing 96 points. The first quarter began with an exchange of punts. On the second Germantown possession of the quarter the Warhawks kicked a 32 yard filed goal. The possession was marked by a great one-handed catch by Germantown and timely tackles by Jackson Weber and Kelly Jackson to keep Germantown out of the end zone. On the following possession Bay began on the 32 yard line and marched for 68 yards for the go ahead score. Notable running by Turner DeMuth, Rasadeem Gray and an big third down conversion resulted in a Gray 3 yard TD run. Extra point by Colin Downing was good. Bay 7, GT 3. Germantown appeared poised to take the win after driving 82 yards via pass and strong running. However, the Warhawks were denied when a slant pattern was broken up by Jeremiah Holt in the end zone as time expired. A key to the win was the play of the Dukes Linemen on a very warm evening by helping provide a strong running game for the Dukes while slowing the Warhawks offensive juggernaut. Kudos to Will Shanley, Quentin Dismukes, Michael Fiedler, Kelly Jackson, Deontaye Brown, John Platzer, Jacob Carlson, Bobby Linneman, Alec Monaghan, Ryan Drews and Graydon Peterson.Thursday Night Lights is next for the Dukes. Friday, August 26, 2011 Whitefish Bay On the Short End of a Disappointing One-Point Loss. What started as a promising display of Blue Duke offense and defense last Friday night quickly gave way to a tale of two halves. After taking a 26-13 lead into halftime, Whitefish Bay wound up losing the game to the Slinger Owls, 27-26.The Blue Dukes stared the scoring with help from Slinger in the form a botched punt which resulted in a safety by Jacob Pandl for Whitefish Bay. The Owls, however struck right back with a 45 yard pass play for a touchdown. Not to be outdone, the Dukes scored again before the end of the first quarter on a 63 yard touchdown scamper by Rashadeem Gray to take the lead back at 9-7. The second quarter saw the Blue Dukes pick up where they left off in the first with a 65 yard scoring drive, highlighted by 30 yard pass from Grant Menard to an acrobatic Darien Walker who stole ball from the Owl defender. On the ensuing kickoff, Slinger fumbled and Julian Posey recovered the ball for another Whitefish Bay touchdown. That brought the score to 23-7. After a great goal line stand by the Bay defense, the Dukes turned the ball over on downs and the Owls immediately took advantage by producing a 38 yard touchdown run that brought the score to 23-13. After some good running by Deontaye Brown and Gray, Whitefish Bay's Colin Downing was able to kick a 42 yard field goal shortly before half time, bringing the score to 26-13. Thursday, August 25, 2011 JV Blue Dukes Have A Hoot With The Owls. The JV started showing glimpses of returning to their traditional winning form when Sophomore quarterback Joe Sherburne returned to the line-up from a nagging injury that sidelined him in the Dukes first home opener. Another bright spot was the play of the O-line as holes started to open up and the backs started hitting them harder than game one. The Dukes ended their second victory of the season with a score of 25 -14. Junior Jonathon Leitner caught two touch down passes, while sophomore Tommy Friesh added one on the ground and Rashad Gray added another touch down pass. Tyler Terveer, Ben Lehrmann, Michel Loyda, Austin Steinmetz and Joe Beck turned in solid performances on Defense holding the Owls to just one score the entire game until a last minute 60 yard pass reception gave the Owls their second score.
Saturday, August 20, 2011 JV stands tough. A tough defensive battle ended with Michaell Loyda's interception with less then one minute to go, running it back 70 yards for a touchdown. Bay clinches the win 13-6
Friday, August 19, 2011 Varsity Blue Dukes Make a Statement in 2011 Opening Game One half of football was all Whitefish Bay needed to register its first victory of the season. In a 35-0 win in West Bend over the West Bend West Spartans, Coach Jim Tietjen's squad showed those watching that this year's team will be a fast and athletic one. The Blue Dukes string of five unanswered touchdown drives in the first half began on its own 45 yard line. A number of good runs by Rashadeem Gray, Deontaye Brown and Grant Menard got the Dukes down to the West Bend 31 yard line. Menard then handed off to Gray, who sprinted for the remaining 31 yards into the end zone. Colin Downing made the first of his five extra points. After a Kelly Jackson forced fumble, recovered by Will Shanley, the Dukes took over on the Spartan's twenty. Runs by Gray and Brown got the ball to the five, and Brown took it in from there for Bay's second score. Following a West Bend punt, Bay started its next drive on its own 24 yard line. Before the end of the quarter, Julian Posey had scampered 31 yards, leaving the Dukes on the Spartan's 35 yard line at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter opened up with a bomb from Menard to a wide open Jackson Weber for a 31 yard score. On the next Spartan possession they were again forced to punt, putting the Dukes back on their own 7 to begin their next drive. After an exchange of punts, Whitefish Bay was back in business on their own 10. After an incompletion, Menard handed off to Gray who stunned the crowd and sprinted up the left sideline 90 yards for Bay's next score. After Downing's extra point, the score stood at 28-0. The Dukes held the Spartans, but they muffed their punt on fourth down and the Blue Dukes took over on the West Bend 37. After a four yard run by Posey, Menard heaved a ball to Darien Walker in the corner of the end zone. The Spartans defended the play perfectly, but Walker wanted the ball more and outjumped the defender for a spectacular catch and touchdown. That brought the half time score to 35-0. The third and fourth quarters were exercises in frustration for both teams, as no more scoring occurred in the game. Mention should be made of the great Blue Duke defense and great tackles by Bobby Linneman, Jackson Weber, Kelly Jackson, Jacob Pandl and Alec Monaghan. Whitefish Bay's home opener is next Friday, August 26th at 7 p.m. against the Slinger Owls. Hope to see you all there! Go Dukes!

Kohl's Kicking, Punting, Snapping Camps -I wanted to alert you that we will be in your region next weekend at Iowa State University January 22-23. We will not be back in this region for a camp until June. This camp will take place at the Bergstrom Indoor facility at Iowa State University and is annually one of our best training camps. The majority of our senior staff will be present at his event. This is a training camp, so we will focus on kicking, punting, and snapping training. Each athlete will be videotaped and broken down numerous times at camp. This is also an off season camp, so unlike most of our events we will have a special session devoted to strength and conditioning training that is specific to kickers, punters, and snappers. We will give each athlete a manual that they can incorporate into their current high school program to get the best results for next year. If you have some players who are interested in attending they can do so at http://server1.streamsend.com/streamsend/clicktracker.php?cd=10341&ld=652&md=1692&ud=83d8f00d230936ea6b4f5f176786827d&url=http://www.kohlskicking.com/ or email us at email@kohlskicking.com
October 19, 2010 Whitefish Bay Junior Varsity Ends Its Season 8-1 with a Convincing Win over the Milwaukee Lutheran Red Knights, 52-28. Even a bus that was a half hour late in delivering the Blue Dukes to the playing field couldn't deter them from handing out a significant drubbing to the Milwaukee Lutheran Red Knights last Thursday evening. The JV Blue Dukes came out with a vengeance on its first possession. Runs of 30 and 27 yards by Darrien Walker quickly put Whitefish Bay up, 8-0. On its next possession, the Blue Dukes started on its own 44 yard line and immediately put another impressive drive together with runs of 19 by Walker and 33 by Kelly Garth. Andre Nicholson pushed it over from the one for a 14-0 lead. The Red Knights took the ball on its own 20, but immediately proceeded to fumble. The ball was scooped up by Quinten Dismukes and he ran it 17 yards for another Bay touchdown. That gave the Blue Dukes a 22-0 edge early in the second quarter. Milwaukee Lutheran quickly struck back with four play 60 yard drive that made the score 22-7. After a great 49 yard kickoff return by Kelly Garth couldn't produce points, the Red Knights marched on a six play scoring drive to tighten the score to 22-14. Aided by a pass interference penalty and passes from Patchen Tews to Garth of 15 and 22 yards, the Blue Dukes were able to score again before half on a one yard leaping throw from Tews to Ian Buchanan. That increased Bay's lead at half to 28-14. Whitefish Bay opened the second half with good field position at its own 45. Good rushes by J.J. Johnson were capped by his 4yard run into the end zone, giving Bay a 34-14 lead. On the ensuing kickoff return, the Red Knights fumbled and it was recovered by Dan Pettay on the Milwaukee Lutheran 20 yard line. All came to naught, however, when the Blue Dukes returned the favor in the end zone, fumbling back to the Red Knights. Luck was with the JV team when, on the first play from scrimmage by Milwaukee Lutheran, the Red Knights fumbled the ball right back to Bay, which took over again at the opposition's 31. Two runs by Johnson put the Blue Dukes up 40 -14 and the route was on. The Red Knights fumbled for a third time on the following series, giving Bay great field position on the Milwaukee Lutheran 15 yard line. Tews struck immediately and hit a diving Ian Buchanan in the end zone for another touchdown. That allowed the Blue Dukes to end the third quarter with a 46-14 lead. But the Red Knights did not give up. They quickly struck back with a 5 play drive of their own to cut the lead to 46-21, at least momentarily. Johnson took a handoff on the first play from scrimmage and streaked for 74 yards and a touchdown, which, upped the score to 52-21. The Red Knights closed out the evening's scoring with a meaningless 7 play drive for a touchdown, making the final score a bit more cosmetically acceptable at 52-28. The Junior Varsity of Whitefish Bay practice hard and put in more on the field hours than the other levels at the school. So, if you happen to know any of these men, please thank them for their time and effort. They all deserve it. Cheer on the varsity in the playoffs, and see you next year - maybe!
October 19,2010 The freshmen football team capped off their undefeated season last night with a 49-0 pounding of Milwaukee Lutheran. The Blue Dukes defense shut out their opponent for the second week in a row, highlighted by Luke Henricks 2 interceptions and Ben Lehrmann's 80 yd interception return for a TD. Finishing the season with 18 healthy players the Dukes success this season was truly a team effort
October 14, 2010 . Whitefish Bay Junior Varsity Takes the Bite Out of the Cedarburg Bulldogs, 6-0 As Yogi Berra once said, it was deja vue all over again Thursday afternoon at Lubar Stadium. The Whitefish Bay Junior Varsity turned in a very similar performance to last week's win over Homestead by besting Cedarburg, 6-0 with a first quarter touchdown and a failed extra point. On its first possession, and after a rocky two-play, two-fumble start, the Blue Dukes settled down and drove 80 yards for the game's only score. Highlights of the drive included substantial runs by Darien Walker and Kelly Jackson as well as a 15 yard pass from Patchen Tews to Walker. Tews ultimately used a quarterback sneak to score the touchdown. While the next three quarters had their share of anxious moments, the Bulldogs seemed to self-destruct at almost every opportunity. Two fumbles ended what looked to be promising drives, one on the Bay 24 that was recovered by John Platzer. The biggest surprise to most fans was what transpired on Cedarburg's last drive. Stictching together eight plays, the Bulldogs drove from their own 13 down to the Bay 11. It was fourth and inches, 37 seconds left and the Bulldogs had one timeout remaining. Inexplicably, Cedarburg forsook a first down plunge and chose not to call a timeout. Instead, it ran a pass play intended for one of their receivers in the end zone. Darien Walker out-lept the receiver he was covering to knock the ball to the ground, sealing the victory for the Blue Dukes.Join us for the JV's last game of the season at Milwaukee Lutheran next TUESDAY night at 6 p.m. See you there!
October 14, 2010 The Freshmen Football team improved its season mark to a perfect 7-0 last night with a convincing 36 to nothing win over Cedarburg last night on the road. The Blue Dukes held a slim 13-0 lead at half time but big plays proved to be the difference in the 2nd half. The Blue Dukes returned a punt for a touchdown and forced a key turnover with an interception. From there, the offense took over and controlled the game, grinding out 16 2nd half points. The freshmen will look to cap their perfect season when they take on Milwaukee Lutheran next Tuesday at home at 4:00.
October 8, 2010 Homecoming vs Homestead the excitement was in the air, the media was present for another battle between Bay and Homestead. Unfortunately, we found ourselves on the short end of the stick 21-7.
October 7, 2010 Whitefish Bay Junior Varsity Ups Record to 6-1. Hold off the Homestead Highlanders, 6-0. With a new quarterback at the helm, Whitefish Bay managed to repulse repeated attempts from the Homestead Highlanders to capture a hard fought 6-0 victory. Because of an injury to starting quarterback Grant Menard, Patchen Tews was called upon to lead the JV team to victory. After some miscues by both teams early in the first quarter, Graydon Peterson blocked a Highlander punt to start what would turn out to be the one and only scoring drive of the game. The drive was highlighted by good runs up the middle by Rashadeem Gray, J.J. Johnson and Kelly Garth, but the signature play was a 22 yard pass from Tews to Darien Walker to set up a 2 yard plunge by Gray for the touchdown. The second quarter was scoreless, but Tews thrilled Whitefish Bay fans with a 47 yard pass to Garth to set up a first and ten on the Homestead 17. Unfortunately, a subsequent pass was intercepted by the Highlanders in the end zone, and they ran out the clock. The Bay defense again was front and center in the third and fourth quarters. They repeatedly rebuffed attempts by the Highlanders to establish some rhythm and put together any semblance of a scoring drive. Dan Pettay shut down one Highlander thrust with a great interception after Homestead started out with great field position on its own 46. The emphasis was on good tackling by Peterson, Tews, Kelly Jackson and Will Shanley among others, throughout the game. The JV has its last home game of the season this coming Thursday afternoon against Cedarburg at Lubar Stadium starting at 4:15. Please come out and support these guys - they deserve it!
October 7,2010 In a clash of two unbeaten teams, the Freshmen football team traveled to Homestead last night and handed the Highlanders their first loss of the season with a decisive 30-12 victory. The Blue Dukes defense only allowed Homestead to cross the 50 yard line once in the second half as they took control of the game. The offense went on a 10-play 70 yard drive that lasted over 4 minutes to close it out. With the JV team also beating Homestead 6-0, the Whitefish Bay football program will look to make it a clean sweep with a victory Friday.
October 1, 2010- Grafton, WI - The Blue Dukes got off to a fast start and played Homecoming spoiler Friday night in route to a 51-13 victory at host Grafton. The Highlanders are bringing a 58 game conference winning streak into Lubar Friday night. Bay has not beaten Homestead since 2000.
September 30, 2010 Blue Duke's Junior Varsity Shoot Down the Grafton Black Hawks, 47-0 While the score may not indicate it, the Blue Dukes and the Black Hawks played the first quarter of Thursday afternoon's showdown to a scoreless tie. Needless to say, the remaining three quarters had enough scoring to satisfy even the most ardent Whitefish Bay fan. The Blue Dukes started its first drive of the second quarter on its own 17, and drew first blood with a J.J. Johnson touchdown run of 82 yards. Following a successful 2 point conversion, Bay was out in front, 8-0. On the ensuing series, Quinten Dismukes recovered a Grafton fumble on the Black Hawks' 18. Two runs by Julian Posey resulted in another score putting Bay out in front, 16-0. After a muffed punt by Grafton, Whitefish Bay capitalized again with a 15 yard touchdown run by Posey, giving the Blue Dukes a 22-0 lead. After a penalty negated an 82 yard punt return by Darien Walker, Menard completed a 55 yard touchdown pass right back to Walker for the final scoring before half. The Blue Dukes led, 28-0.Whitefish Bay opened the second half on its own 40 yard line, but turned the ball over on a fumble. On its next series, Bay posted another score on a 68 yard touchdown run by Rashadeem Gray, and giving the Blue Dukes an insurmountable lead of 34-0. After Grafton turned the ball over on downs, Bay began its next series on the Black Hawk 44. After a couple of short positive runs, Posey broke loose for a 25 yard touchdown scamper to make the score 40-0. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, John Platzer recovered a Grafton fumble at the Black Hawk 26 yard line. Runs of 23 and 3 yards by Alec Monaghan upped Bay's lead to 47-0. On the Black Hawk's final series, Patchen Tews intercepted an errant throw by the Grafton quarterback and that allowed Bay to run out the clock for a 47-0 win. The defense played exceptionally well, with memorable tackles by Bobby Linneman, Kyle Forbush and Jeremiah Holt, as well as sacks by Graydon Peterson and Monaghan. Senior quarterback Cal Ehrke was an efficient 9 of 19 for 124 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. The league leading Bay defense played very well holding Port to no first downs in the first half. Bay outgained Port 477 to 224 and had 22 first downs to Port's 6. Bay hits the road this Friday for a 7:00pm showdown at Grafton. Grafton (0 - 5) is coming off a 29-7 loss to Nicolet but should not be taken lightly. It is Grafton's Homecoming and 2 of their 3 wins the last 2 years have come on this night.
September 23, 2010 Whitefish Bay Junior Varsity Sinks the Port Washington Pirates, 38-21. Rebounding from a tough loss at Germantown last week, the Blue Dukes took care of business in their home opener Thursday afternoon. It didn't start out well for the Blue Dukes, however. The Pirates took the ball 89 yards on the opening drive for a touchdown, and before you could say "Jolly Roger," Whitefish Bay was down seven. But the Blue Dukes returned the favor with a 51 yard drive, highlighted by Jacob Pandl runs and a 35 yard touchdown pass from Grant Menard to Kelly Garth. At the end of the first quarter, Whitefish Bay found itself up, 8-7. The second quarter opened with the culmination of a 10 play, 86 yard drive by the Pirates for a touchdown, giving them the lead at 13-8. Again, the Blue Dukes struck hard and fast. After returning the ensuing kickoff to the 50, Rashadeem Gray burst down field for 50 yards and a touchdown, putting Whitefish Bay back up, 14-13. The Pirates then righted their own ship and returned Bay's kickoff 82 yards for a 21-14 lead. Not to be outdone, the Blue Dukes put together an 80 yard, 7 play drive for a touchdown. Integral to the drive were passes of 15 yards to Darien Walker and 37 yards to Garth, as well as hard nosed running by Pandl. With a successful two point conversion, Bay went to the locker room at half up 22-21. Whitefish Bay took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched from their own 27 down to the Pirate 5 on runs by Pandl and a 43 yard pass to Darien Walker. Pandl then punched it in for the touchdown, which was followed by a successful 2 point conversion for a 30-21 lead. A couple of fumbles, one by each team, led to neither team doing anything for the remainder of the quarter. After Port Washington opened the final quarter by turning the ball over on downs, the Blue Dukes applied the dagger to the Pirates by driving 32 yards for a final touchdown. Notable on the drive was a 15 yard pass from Menard to Alec Monaghan. The 5 yard touchdown run by J.J. Johnson, followed by a 2 point conversion left Whitefish Bay with an insurmountable lead, 38-21, with little time left. The Pirates' ship was sunk as they were unable to gain any yardage against a tough Bay defense led by Bobby Linneman, Graydon Peterson, Kelly Jackson, Quinten Dismukes and Peter Raczynski. The Blue Dukes are back on the road to face the Grafton Black Hawks next Thursday at 4:15.
September 23, 2010 The Freshmen Football Team posted another convincing win last night, traveling to Port Washington and putting up a 35-16 victory against the Pirates. The game was highlighted by two passing touchdowns from Joe Sherburne to Nate Watkins. Watkins also dazzled the crowd with a 60 yd punt return. Ben Lehrman added two rushing touchdowns for the Blue Dukes. The defense was able to hold the Pirates to two touchdowns, one coming during the last two minutes of the game. Rhashad Gray had the lone turnover for the Dukes with a late 4th quarter interception on the Whitefish Bay 2-yard line as the Pirates were driving. Come support your team as they look to go beat Grafton at home next Thursday at Lubar Stadium.
September 16, 2010 Thursday Night Lights show Bay overpower Germantown 13-3. The Blue Dukes used their conditioning and strength to outlast Germantown in a strong defensive battle. The Blue Dukes forced the Warhawks out on downs on the first drive, then put together an impressive 74-yard drive which led to a 33-yard field goal by Senior David French. The lead was Bay's for the rest of the night. The Warhawks fought back with a 59-yard drive of their own, only to be foiled by Senior Jeff Cebe's interception. In the second half Bay's running game stepped up, leading to the game's only touchdown by running back Deontaye Brown in the fourth quarter. Holding Germantown to a field goal, Bay capped off the game with another field goal of their own. Next up at home, Port Washington.
September 15, 2010 Germantown Serves Blue Duke's Junior Varsity First Taste of Defeat, 33-12. The first quarter started off well with a blocked Germantown punt by John Platzer, setting the Blue Duke's up on their own 36 yard line. But that and a fumble recovery by Graydon Peterson were about the only Whitefish Bay highlights of the first quarter. The Warhawks completed a 61 yard pass for a touchdown and then converted the two point attempt for an 8-0 lead at the end of the quarter.Whitefish Bay made a game of it in the second quarter, making the best of runs by Rashadeem Gray and receptions by Darien Walker. The drive was capped off by a 59 yard touchdown pass from Grant Menard to Walker that brought the score closer, 8-6. However, the Warhawks struck right back with an eleven play drive that resulted in a touchdown. The extra point attempt failed, leaving the score at halftime at 14-6. While the third quarter had no scoring, it certainly wasn't without excitement. Near the end of the quarter, Germantown started on its own five yard line. A running back broke free for what turned out to be an 85 yard run down to Whitefish Bay's five yard line. Only a touchdown saving tackle by Alec Monaghan kept the Warhawks out of the end zone. Unable to get into the end zone due to stiff line play by the Blue Duke defense, the Warhawks attempted a field goal. This attempt was blocked by an untouched Kelly Jackson. As the quarter ended, it found the Blue Dukes starting on their own 10 yard line.Unfortunately, the fourth quarter offered up nothing more than one highlight and a series of miscues by the Blue Dukes. On the plus side, there were good runs by Gray and Kelly Garth, and good receptions by Gray and Ian Buchanan, and a touchdown drive culminating in a 58 yard touchdown pass from Menard to Garth. However, the negatives outweighed the positives, yielding two interceptions and some defensive lapses that resulted in a 90 yard run and a 47 yard run, both resulting in touchdowns. While there was stalwart play all around, the clock just ran out on the Blue Dukes, handing them their first defeat of the season. Undeniably, they will rebound next week when they face Port Washington in their home opener on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
September 15, 2010 The Freshmen football team kept their undefeated season rolling with a 13-7 win against Germantown last night in a thrilling, 4th quarter come from behind victory. Trailing 12-7 with under 5 minutes left in the game, the Blue Dukes marched 60 yards for the go ahead touchdown on a 15 yard run by Tommy Friesch. The defense shutdown the Warhawks on a desperation 4th down play to keep them off the scoreboard and seal the victory. The Blue Dukes were led on offense by Tommy Friesch who added a second touchdown catch from quarterback Joe Sherburne. Come out and watch them as they take on Port Washington on the road next Thursday.
September 11, 2010 The Blue Dukes got off to a fast start Saturday afternoon in route to a 35-0 victory over the host Nicolet Knights. The Dukes defense kept Bay in it from the start. Led by Seniors Garret DeMuth and Jack Beck, Bay forced 6 punts and recovered 1 fumble, to earn their first shut-out of the season and a 1-0 start in North Shore Conference play.On the 5th offensive play from scrimmage, Senior running back Devontae Johnson took a pitch off the right side for a 76 yard touchdown run to put the Dukes up 7 - 0. Bay got a second quarter run from Senior running back Mike Leckie to extend the lead to 14 - 0 going into halftime. Bay added to the scoring in the 3rd quarter when quarterback Cal Ehrke found DeMuth on 4th down from inside the Nicolet 10 to put the Dukes up 21-0. Ehrke then went to work hitting Senior Split-End Zach Hessel on a 35 yard pass down to the Knights 8 yard line setting up a bootleg run by the Senior signal caller to extend the lead to 28-0. Midway through the 4th, Bay methodically drove down to the Knights one yard line where again Ehrke plunged in from 1 yard out to cap the scoring at 35-0. This was not a pretty win for the Dukes. The game was marred by 21 total penalties, 10 for Bay totaling 85 yards. Bay will play their 3rd road game in a row when they travel to Germantown to take on the 2-1 (1-0) Warhawks Thursday night at 7:00pm. G-Town is coming off a huge 49-0 drubbing of Port Washington last Friday. The Dukes have a number of things that need to be cleaned up in all phases if they expect to compete against a very fast opponent.
September 10, 2010 Blue Duke's Junior Varsity Overwhelms Nicolet Knights, 48-28. The game started slowly, as only one drive by the Blue Duke's led to any scoring in the first quarter. That drive was highlighted by a 55 yard quarterback sneak by Grant Menard that yielded a J.J. Johnson one yard plunge for a touchdown. Following a successful two-point conversion, the quarter ended with the Blue Dukes ahead 8-0. The second quarter provided considerably more scoring, begun with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Menard to Kelly Garth. While the two point try failed, and after the Knights turned the ball over on downs, Garth returned the punt 25 yards to the Knight's 32. This scoring drive was highlighted by great runs by Jeremiah Holt and Alec Monaghan, with Monaghan scoring on a five yard run and he also ran in the two point attempt to make the score 22-0. When Nicolet couldn't establish any momentum, Whitefish Bay took over on its own 34. Runs of 14 and 28 yards by Holt, followed by a quarterback scramble, allowed Johnson to scamper into the end zone for a two yard touchdown. The two point conversion attempt was good, giving Bay a 30-0 lead. Nicolet, however, finished the half strong with a nine play drive that yielded a touchdown right before half. The two point conversion failed, leaving the half time score at 30-6. Whitefish Bay came out strong to start the second half with a 58 yard drive that resulted in another touchdown. The drive showcased the running of Johnson and Holt which allowed Menard to sneak it over from the one yard line. That gave the Blue Dukes a 36-6 lead. The ensuing kickoff, however, was run back 82 yards for a Knight's touchdown that tightened the score to 36-14. Turnabout being fair play, Darien Walker took the Knight's kickoff and returned the favor by running 72 yards for a touchdown. With Bay now up 42-14, the remainder of the quarter yielded no further scoring. As the fourth quarter dawned, it found the Knights starting at the Blue Duke's 23 yard line. They quickly capped an eight play drive with a touchdown and brought the game closer at 48-20. On the next drive, Whitefish Bay took command of the game and the clock. After Kyle Forbush intercepted the two point conversion pass attempt, a 67 yard drive that was capped by a fourteen yard touchdown run by Holt, gave the Blue Duke's an insurmountable lead at 48-20. After the Knights completed a desperation 10 play 80 yard drive to make the score 48-28, the Blue Duke offense took over and ran out the clock.
September 10, 2010 The Whitefish Bay Freshmen team posted another win against their crosstown rival Nicolet Knights Thursday with a 54-6 rout. The Blue Dukes put up 35 points in the first quarter highlighted by two punt returns by Nate Watkins. Turner DeMuth, Ben Lehrmann, Luke Henricks, and Tommy Friesch added scores for the Blue Dukes. Join the team on 9/15 as they face conference rival Germantown at Lubar Stadium in what is sure to be an offensive showdown.
September 3, 2010 The Blue Dukes got a much needed 28-21 win last Friday against non-conference opponent Slinger. Slinger struck first with a 1 yard run from running back Thomas Brown. After a slow start offensively, Bay answered with a 41 yard run from Sophomore Julian Posey. Slinger closed out the first half scoring with a 22 yard pass from Philip Maratola to Dylan Alsteen to go into the break up 14-7.The Bay offense exploded in the 2nd half with 21 unanswered points. Cal Erke's 18 yard run started the scoring. Led by a veteran offensive line, the Blue Dukes got a 37 yard run from Devontae Johnson and a 2-point conversion from Erke to Tight End Garret DeMuth to go up 21-14. Bay's final score came on a 3 yard pass from Erke to Johnson that was set up by the stout Dukes defense that turned away the much improved Owls several times in the second half. Slinger got a late score on a 3 yard Martola pass to cut the lead to7, 28-21.Following the disappointing loss to Waukesha West in the opener, the Blue Dukes made adjustments defensively, moving Garret DeMuth and Jack Beck back to their accustomed defensive tackle positions and putting Quenten Dismukes and Henry Dixon at the defensive end positions. They also got much improved play from defensive backs Pat Rose and Grant Menard. "We got much stouter against the run," said Tietjen. "... We're talented but young, and we needed the kids to gain their spurs. We needed to address some player issues that we should have picked up on sooner but I think we're in better shape now." Julian Posey (15 carries for 119 yards and one touchdown) and Davontae Johnson (10 carries, 95 yards and one score) provided a formidable one-two rushing punch for Bay.The Whitefish Bay will visit North Shore rival Nicolet at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Knights (1-1) are coming off an emotional, 9-0, victory over Wauwatosa East. It was the first shutout for the Nicolet program in over 10 years. This is a huge game for both programs.
September 2, 2010 Undermanned Blue Duke Junior Varsity Stave off Slinger Owls, 16-13. With five of their starters from last week scooped up to play at the varsity level, the Junior Varsity arrived at Slinger with only 18 young men suited up to play. Despite this handicap, the team did themselves proud and held off the Owls in a frenetic fourth quarter to capture its second win of the young season, 16-13. After a scoreless first quarter, Slinger fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Patchen Tews at the Blue Duke's 28. On the ensuing seven play drive, runs of 7 and 10 yards by Jeremiah Holt, 8 by Alec Monaghan, coupled with a 13 yard Grant Menard to Ian Buchanan pass completion, allowed J.J. Johnson to run eight yards for the game's first touchdown. The completed pass from Menard to Buchanan made the two point conversion good. Slinger came storming back with a 62 yard drive of its own for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was intercepted by Dan Pettay to leave the score at 8-6. The remainder of the half was a defensive contest where both sides turned the ball over on downs. Bobby Linneman's sack of the quarterback allowed the Blue Dukes to run out the half. The second half began with a 64 yard, six play touchdown drive for the Blue Dukes. It was highlighted by a run of 17 yards by Holt and a 25 yard Menard to Buchanan completion in the corner of the end zone. On the two point conversion attempt, Menard ran to his left and looped a Brett Farve-esqe shovel pass to Buchanan in the end zone. That made the score 16-6. On the next series, Slinger's quarterback was sacked by Graydon Peterson and Peter Raczynski blocked the punt and WFB recovered on the Owl's 1 yard line. Whitefish Bay fumbled it right back to the Owls and then the Owls returned the favor later in their drive. After twice trading punts in the early part of the fourth quarter, Slinger recovered a Whitefish Bay fumble and ran it in for a quick score. The kick for the extra point was good, and the Owls got closer at 16-13. After a couple of maniacal series by both teams, Whitefish Bay was able to control the clock at the end for a hard-fought victory. Notable in the victory was great work done by the defense, including sacks by John Platzer and Peterson, as well as hard tackling by Ryan Drews, Kyle Forbush and Raczynski.
September 2, 2010 Freshman continue winning ways. The Freshmen football team made a convincing statement last night in their home opener with a 49-12 blistering of Slinger. The Blue Dukes were paced on offense by quarterback Joe Sherburne who threw for 2 touchdowns, while Turner Demuth, Tommy Friesch, and Rashad Gray contributed to a rushing attack that put 5 touchdowns on the board and put up over 250 yards on the ground. The freshmen team will open up conference play next Thursday at home against Nicolet at 4:30.
August 27, 2010-The Blue Dukes Varsity struggled in the home opener against Waukesha West. The offense gained 251 yards in the game and was led by senior tight end Garrett DeMuth, recovering a fumble for a 15 yard touchdown run , followed by a pass completion from Cal Ehrke for touchdown #2 . Bay competed well in the first half, unfortunately West's offense kicked into high gear in the second half giving Bay's defense a difficult time and surrendering a game total 399 yards. Waukesha 41, Whitefish Bay 13.
August 26, 2010 - Whitefish Bay JV Blue Dukes Steamroll Waukesha West Wolverines 28-0 On a beautiful summer afternoon, the JV Blue Dukes took care of business in a methodical way by running the ball over 75% of the plays against the Wolverines for an impressive victory. After trading punts to open the game, the Blue Dukes put together an impressive 84 yard scoring drive, highlighted by the running of Jacob Pandl, Tony Martinelli and Kelly Garth. Quarterback Grant Menard capped the drive with a ten yard run, which was followed by a successful 2-point conversion.Waukesha West took the ensuing kickoff by to the Blue Duke's 45, and commenced a 10-play drive that resulted in a missed field goal attempt early in the second quarter. With Whitefish Bay starting on its own 20, runs by Pandl, Martinelli and Garth moved the ball down to the Wolverine's 20 yard line. Jacob Pandl finally punched through for an 11-yard touchdown run. The try for two failed. Score: WFB 14-WW 0. With time running out in the half, the Wolverines started their drive on their own 17. On the first play of the drive, the Wolverines ran a play off left tackle, but Jacob Pandl ripped the ball out of the running back's hands and fought his way down to the one yard line. With fifteen seconds to go, Pandl punched it in for a touchdown. Ian Buchanan caught a bullet from Menard for the two-point conversion. Score: 22-0.West opened the second half on its own 20, but a great quarterback sack by Quinten Dismukes put them back to the 11 and they had to punt. The Blue Dukes took over on the Wolverine's 40 and came out firing. Menard rifled a pass over the middle to Buchanan for a gain of twelve, but the series ended on downs. After stellar defensive plays by Dan Pettay and Patchen Tews, and a blocked punt by Will Shanley, the Blue Dukes were back on offense at the Wolverine's 41 and resumed their balanced attack with two passes to Buchanan for 18 yards, and runs by Martinelli and Garth to bring the ball down to the Wolverine's 12 at the end of the third quarter. The 4th quarter began with an aerial attack. Menard through a perfect strike to Buchanan over the middle for a gain of ten, and that was followed by a 13 yard pass to a leaping Buchanan who caught it at the five and struggled down to the one yard line. After a series of penalties, the Blue Dukes turned the ball over on an interception by the Wolverine's secondary. After good defensive plays by Peter Raczynski and Bobby Linneman, Whitefish Bay took over on West's 46. In a drive that included powerful runs by Garth and a 20 yard Menard to Buchanan completion, Jeremiah Holt ran five yards for the touchdown. The Blue Duke's defense took over and great plays by Kyle Forbush (two sacks) and great pressure forced West to punt. Whitefish Bay then ran out the clock for an impressive 28-0 victory.

May 17, 2010- Here is the summary from the Parent Football Meeting:The football Captains spoke first- they talked about taking the extra step as players to be successful and gave a goal of 7-2, conference Champs. They asked parents to help enforce workouts, keeping grades up. They also introduced a new policy for missing practices, because missing practices lends to not knowing plays: each player is allowed one excused absence. After that your unit (i.e. offense/defense) comes in at 6:00 the following Monday to work with your coach. This applies to Freshman/JV/Varsity (only the impacted level comes in). Stressed the importance of doing team weights, other teams are doing it. Right now Rustin Clewin is available M & @W 5:30-7:30. This summer he will run the program M thru Thurs in the evening, please sign up thru the Rec Dept to participate. Players involved in baseball should lift in the morning if they have a conflict. Elaine, our trainer, has an office in the field house & is available to answer questions. She talked about the off season & the importance of injury prevention. To do this players should do the training, she can always tell who hasn't participated as she sees a lot hip flexor & shin splints in the first weeks. Push your kids to do this. She also talked about Project Sidelines- a neuropsyc physician, here in Milwaukee, is a leader in the country, is doing a long term concussion study - prevention, how long players are out, etc. There is a form you & your son must fill out if you would like to participate. They will do a baseline testing- cognitive, balance- rating scale. The majority will be done before school is out- she has a sign-up sheet for them. If a player sustains a concussion, someone from the Medical College will come out and the reassess day 3/ day 8. Will be out 1 week from the time feeling symptoms. A 2nd offering she talked about was specialized mouth guards, again to help with decreasing concussion. Dr. Paul Sandvik & Dr. Stephanie Miller, will make custom fit mouth guards for each of the players. You want to make sure the back of the guard is intact-, they also will mold for braces & redo once braces are off. She talked about stingers and how core strengthening will decrease- work on the neck- if they notice an oddness they should let Elaine know. If they are taking major hits, remind them to pump their helmets. Coach Tietjen talked about the lift from 5:30-7:30, reinforcing the team captains in that all should lift- & again mentioned those with baseball conflicts should go in the morning. We have Rusten from Concordia who has done a great job with the strengthening & conditioning. They will do tire testing this year. Goal is to move to the next level. Instead of the Saturday passing league in Whitewater we are going to have 2 team workouts on the field: 7/10- suit up, individual time & workout. 7/24- workout plus work with Riverside (both are listed on the attached calendar). Junior Camp is 7/19-7/22 for Junior Blue Duke Players, incoming 5th thru 8th grade. The High school overnight, for incoming freshman thru seniors, is two nights, July 26 & 27, return on Wednesday. ( I have attached the permission slip for camp to this email). For Kickers, we hold the Kohl Kicking camp- it is free to all Bay kids- should attend this if kicking. 8/9- suit up, they will get the rest of their uniforms, by class as listed on the calendar. At 4:00 they will do testing & be done by 5:30. Practice Timeframe- almost all coaches are nonteachers. The goal is to be off the field by 6:15 during school. They will watch film after practice. Varsity Locker Room is from 1950- we will be getting new lockers with padded seat, lock 4 hooks- should hold equipment better. The potential realignment for 2011 is still under discussion- looking at school size & distance to travel in this process. Games: Varsity & JV always play same place, Freshman are opposite. They added an 8th game for the freshman this year at the beginning of the season.Outside camps: developmental- we do a lot of what they do, they are more for recruitment purposes. If you are looking at outside camps Whitewater is good ,then a school your son might want to go to. The MI camp is good as they bring all different coaches in. Do one day camps. Laura- apparel forms were not ready at the meeting- attached in this email. I am asking that you return these by June 15th. I would prefer not to do a 2nd order this year, as I have to get a certain number of each item to do so, so please be cognizant of the due date. Entertainment book sale will be Saturday August 21 after morning practice - would like each player to sell 6 books & have completed before school starts. Mom's cookout will be Saturday August 14th after the Blue/Grey scrimmage- this has traditionally been done on equipment pick-up day. Noticed soccer did it last year after their scrimmage, thought we'd try this. Parent Volunteers- form attached. Sophomore Parents are in charge of tailgate this year - Freshman parents in charge of clean-up. This year it will be Friday August 27th. Michael Lucey has retired as our webmaster(THANK YOU for all the work you have done on this)- I will handle & would like to have someone to co-run if anyone is interested. The Menards & Shanleys are co-chairing this year's Golf Outing on July 9th & we have named it honor of Greg Loyda. Handouts were available- I will forward out. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also- if you know someone interested in playing who did not play last year, please forward this to them or have them call me. If you have an updated or additional email, please let me know- Thanks Laura

November 17, 2009 - 2009 Blue Dukes Football Banquet Invitation & Sign-up Form
October 29, 2009 - Commentary on the 2009 Season: It was a good season for the 5-5 Varsity Blue Dukes. Consider the following. 1) We lost several players due to injury prior to the season even starting and we were playing with diminished numbers. 2) We made the playoffs at week 6! 3) The games we won, we won decisively, with the offense scoring 30+ and our defense shutting out most. 4) At week 6 our defense was ranked 1st in scoring defense in the area, our team was ranked 10th overall in the area and 4th in State at DIII. 5) Our losses were to D1 #1 State Ranked Homestead by 7, DI #4 State Ranked Waukesha West by 7, DII #4 State Ranked Cedarburg, DIII Playoff Qualifiers Milwaukee Lutheran by 7 and our playoff game to New Berlin Eisenhower by 7. 6) We made the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive year - the seniors have never had a varsity season not making the playoffs. 7) There was not a game that this team played where they gave up! Even after getting down to Cedarburg 27-0 they made it a game, twice narrowing the gap to 10 points in the 51-32 game. This kind of character is something that we can be very proud of! To the coaches, parents and supporters, thanks for all of your hard work in making this a successful program for our student-athletes. To the freshmen, sophomores and juniors - good luck next year and continue to improve on the success of the program that you are apart of. To the seniors good luck in whatever you choose to do and remember the lessons of teamwork and the success of winning, as well as the lessons of those moments when time expires on you. Use these to draw upon for future success!
October 27, 2009 - The Varsity Blue Dukes had an exciting season, but unfortunately time ran out for them on the New Berlin Eisenhower 1 yard line. After 773 combined yards of offense (WFB 418, NBE 355), it was surprising that the final score was only 17-10 in favor of New Berlin. Here are the highlights. 1st Quarter: After a Bay fumble, NBE moved the ball to the Bay 23 yard line and then connected on a pass for the TD to go up 0-7. In the 2nd Quarter Jackson Weber and Joe Lucey created a NBE fumble that was recovered by Elric Erving. Bay was forced to punt and Will Hagerup nailed a nice one to put Bay in good position. Unfortunately NBE was able to connect on a 75 yard pass play for a TD, making the score 0-10. When Bay got the ball back, the offense moved the ball well, but instead of going for roughly a 40 yard field goal, they decided to go for the 1st down on 4th and long, which was unsuccessful. Bay later forced NBE to punt and was able to drive the ball down to the 6 yard line before stalling. Hagerup tried a 23 yard FG which was blocked. After the half, QB Cal Ehrke (22/34/295/1/0) hit Devantae Johnson for a 23 yard TD to make it 7-10. In the 4th Quarter, Bay was able to move the ball to the NBE 5 yard line before settling for a 23 yard FG by Hagerup, which tied up the score at 10-10. NBE responded by marching down the field to the Bay 27 yard line where they were able to connect on a pass to score another TD, making it 10-17. After the kick-off Bay worked very efficiently over the last 1:24 to move roughly 73 yards to the NBE 6 yard line with 7 seconds remaining. The next play, a role out pass that ended up being a QB keeper fell a yard short with the ball coming loose as time expired. Final: WFB 10 - NBE 17. A couple of game notes. Will Hagerup hit 2 terrific punts, one late in the game that went over 50 yards and died on the NBE 4-5 yard line. Justin Alt, Diontaye Brown, Tommy Hendricks, Devantae Johnson, Brian Kroll and Ehrke combined rushing went for 123 yards. Hagerup, Paul Davis, Alt, and Johnson were on the receiving end of those Ehrke passes for 295 yards. Viktor Gottlieb had a big night again on defense.

October 22, 2009 - The Varsity Blue Dukes outgained the Mississippi Valley State-like spread offense of Milwaukee Lutheran by 445 yards to 409 yards and created 5 Milwaukee Lutheran turn-overs (4 Interceptions, 1 Fumble) to 2 Bay (both fumbles) turn-overs, but still came up on the short side of the scoreboard. Here is a summary of the events. 1st Qtr: Diontaye Brown (who had a big night (24-111) rolled for a 5 yard TD (Joe Lucey Kick) to go up 7-0. Later in the quarter both Jackson Weber and Brian Kroll picked-off 2 Colin Smith passes. 2nd Qtr: Brian Cobbs put ML on the board with a 7 yard run (Charlie Henke Kick) 7-7. After a Bay fumble, Colin Smith (20/30/277/3/4) tossed a 7 yard TD to Garrett Wenzelberger (11/114) (PAT Failed) and it was 7-13 at the half. After the players and their parents were introduced at half-time, ML came out and Smith immediately through a 68 yard TD pass to Cody Johnson (6/136) (Smith also connected with Johnson for the 2 point conversion) 7-21. Cal Ehrke (10/15/107/1/0) then threw a 23 yard pass to Brian Kroll who made a terrific effort to get into the end zone (Will Hagerup Kick) 14-21. Gabe Aleman then picked-off a Smith pass, which led to a 17 yard TD pass from Ehrke to Justin Alt (Hagerup Kick) to tie up the score 21-21. Jackson Weber then picked-off another pass (his second of the night). 4th Qtr: Unfortunately this opportunity was stymied, as Bay was marching down the field, by a Blue Duke fumble. Later Smith completed a 12 yard TD pass to Wenzelberger (Dan Drida Kick) and ML was again up 21-28. Still, Jackson Weber again to the rescue as he recovered a ML fumble. The Blue Dukes then marched to the ML 12 yard line only to go 4 and out handing the ball over to ML to run out the clock. Final Score - WFB 21, ML 28. Brian Kroll also had a big night on the ground going 138 yards on 13 carries. In the last two weeks the Blue Dukes Offensive line has helped the Bay offense put up some staggering numbers - Nice job to Jaime Klett, Ryan Grych, Jake Levings, Jeff Cebe & Taylor Hoff!!! Lets move forward and on to the PLAYOFFS! GO BLUE DUKES!!!
October 21, 2009 - The JV Blue Dukes ended the 2009 campaign with a hard fought yet disappointing defeat to the Milwaukee Lutheran Red Knights 27-20. Dressing only 13 players for the game, the Dukes battled throughout but still came up a little short. Despite two touchdown runs by Devontae Johnson, one long touchdown scamper by James Stecker and a two point conversion run by Michael Letizia, WFB found themselves down by one score late in the fourth quarter. They recovered a fumble and drove to the Red Knight 14 yard line with 26 seconds left in the game but Milwaukee Lutheran intercepted a pass to end the Blue Dukes final threat. The WFB JV Blue Dukes ended the season with a record of 3-6 but given the small numbers who dressed for every game, that record doesn't measure the effort, team growth and heart shown by these future Varsity players. We wish them much success in 2010. (By Don Levings) Thank you Don for announcing at the JV games and for providing us summaries of the games this season!
October 21, 2009 - Whitefish Bay Freshmen Successfully Complete Quest for an Undefeated Season! The freshmen Blue Dukes finished off its season in style Tuesday night by whipping Milwaukee Lutheran, 48-6. That win completed a 7-0 season for the frosh. The action began swiftly. After taking over on downs, the Blue Dukes put a 48 yard scoring drive together, highlighted by a 27 yard run by Jordan Johnson and a 5 yard touchdown run by Julian Posey to give Bay a quick 7-0 lead. After getting the ball back in great position at the Red Knights 33, the Blue Dukes put another scoring drive together with help from a Posey 22 yard run and a 16 yard pass play from Grant Menard to Darien Walker. That gave the frosh a 13-0 lead after one quarter. After taking over on its own 17 yard line, Bay put together another long scoring drive. Long runs by Posey, Rashadeem Gray and Johnson, along with a 20 yard pass completion to Alec Monaghan, capped the drive. After a successful two point conversion, Bay was up 21-0. Before the half, Bay managed one more scoring drive, this one going 77 yards. A long run by Posey and a 34 pass play to Walker highlighted the drive. At the end of the half, the Blue Dukes were up 28-0. Whitefish Bay started the second half on its own 15, and promptly marched down the field for a score. The usual suspects hit for big gains, and the drive was capped by a 17 yard run by Johnson. Immediately after the Red Knights regained possession, Posey intercepted a pass on the Bay 44, and raced down the sideline for a 56 yard touchdown. This left Bay with a 42-0 lead. After starting on its own 27, Milwaukee Lutheran finally put a drive together that culminated in a score. The Blue Dukes immediately struck back with a 60 scoring drive of its own, finished by a one yard quarterback sneak by Menard. After the Red Knights turned the ball over on downs, the frosh ran out the clock. Final score: Whitefish Bay 48, Milwaukee Lutheran 6. It was a team affair, as virtually all that could contribute did contribute. That included the likes of John McKinley, John Park, Ben Powell, Lukas Short, Tyler Spannenberg, Na'il Scoggins and Avi Mayerhoff. While not playing much during the year, they were an integral part of the team's character and success. If you happen to run into any of our freshmen players in the near future, how about giving him a pat on the back for a job well done. And don't forget the coaches - Greg Lehman, Derek Larson and Andy Jenson! See you next year! (By Jim Buchanan) And thank you very much Jim for providing such terrific summaries of the freshmen games this season!
October 16, 2009 - Cedarburg 51, Whitefish Bay 32 - I guess it surprised us all, that our defense (437 yds) gave up more points in this game than they had in the first 7 games of the season, combined! What seemed to impress those of us in the stands was that our kids, our team, even when down by 27-0 mid-second quarter, they didn't quit, they fought back! Unfortunately even though they did close the gap to 41-26, Cedarburg stayed in the game. Kudo's to Cedarburg, a good team no doubt. Major kudo's to the offensive line (418 yds) who provided our QB the time to get the Blue Dukes back into the game. QB Cal Ehrke (16/25/331/5/0) had a huge night throwing to Justin Alt (5/138/2), Paul Davis (44 Yd TD, an amazing catch - see video on Home Page), Devantae Johnson (50 yd TD) and Will Hagerup (4 yd TD). The offense was not perfect though as it gave up some turnovers in the first quarter which lead to Cedarburg TD's. Next up on Wednesday is Milwaukee Lutheran, a team that likes to throw the ball and put up big numbers. It will be key for our offense to have several nice long sustained time eating drives and for our defense to shut the Red Knights down, taking advantage of the opportunity for some picks! GO BLUE DUKES!!!
October 15, 2009 - The JV Blue Dukes fell to the Cedarburg Bulldogs 27-6. The Blue Dukes started the game with 14 players and finished with 13 after an injury to Zach Hessel. Cedarburg led at the half 27-0 but the undermanned JV Dukes never quit and the defense held the powerful Bulldogs scoreless in the second half even though Cedarburg never substituted for their first string. Devontae Johnson returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown and although there was no further scoring, WFB more then held their own for the remainder of the game. The 3-5 JV will try to finish the season on a winning note with their final game on Tuesday, 10-20-09. Game time is 4:15 P.M. and the game will be held in Lubar Stadium at WFBHS. Come support these hard working future Varsity Blue Dukes. By Don Levings.
October 15, 2009 - Whitefish Bay Frosh Down Cedarburg Bulldogs, 28-12 to Stay Undefeated - Under a cold, gray and rainy October sky, the Whitefish Bay Freshmen Blue Dukes persevered to capture its sixth straight win Thursday afternoon. The Cedarburg Bulldogs bit first by stunning Whitefish Bay on the first play of the game with a 68 yard run for a touchdown. While the Blue Dukes were able to make some progress against a stiff Bulldog defense, they could only get to the Bulldog's nine yard line before turning the ball over on downs. The first quarter ended on an up note, however, with a Blue Duke recovery of a Bulldog fumble on its own 38 yard line. The second quarter opened with a Julian Posey 49 yard run to the Bulldog one, followed by a Grant Menard quarterback sneak for the touchdown to even the score at 6-6. Cedarburg struck back with a 50 yard run for a score. After a failed two point conversion, the first half ended with the Blue Dukes trailing 12-6. The second half proved to be dominated by Whitefish Bay. Starting on its own 40, a sixty yard drive was ultimately capped by a Posey four yard run. The two point conversion was good to give Bay the lead at 14-12. After Jacob Pandl ripped the ball out of the hands of a Bulldog ball carrier, a 66 yard drive was ultimately finished with a quarterback sneak for the score. The drive was highlighted by excellent runs by Posey and Rashadeem Gray. The third quarter came to an end with the Blue Dukes in command at 20-12. The final quarter's last scoring drive was accented by a Jordan Johnson punt return, a personal foul penalty and a 30 yard run by Posey. Pandl pushed the ball in for a touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion to make the score 28-12. While Cedarburg valiantly tried to come back, its remaining drives fizzled out, highlighted by a touchdown-saving tackle by Michael Loyda and good tackling by Bobby Linneman, Graydon Peterson, Kelly Jackson and Quentin Dismukes. Ultimately time ran out on the Bulldogs, leaving Whitefish Bay undefeated. Bay's quest for an undefeated season comes to an end next Tuesday, October 20th at 6 pm at Milwaukee Lutheran. By Jim Buchanan
October 9, 2009 - It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...it was the featured game of the week and based on the media presence, the size of the articles, the videos, the coverage, it indeed was a BIG game. Unfortunately for the Varsity Blue Dukes it did not go their way, Homestead 7, Whitefish Bay 0. The Bay defense which has given up only 21 points in 6 games and shut-out 4 teams did a valiant job holding the #7 ranked offense in the area that averages 381 yards per game to 235 yards and 1 TD. The Homestead TD was scored on a 29 yard pass into the end zone late in the first quarter. Homestead's defense which has allowed only 7.5 points per game this season held the Blue Duke offense to 142 yards, with only 29 of those coming in the second half. Cal Ehrke was under pressure for most of the game and Bay receivers found it difficult to get separation. Ehrke went 9/22/0/1 for 64 yards with the interception occurring on the last play of the game as time expired. The Blue Duke offense was only able to generate 78 yards on the ground. Homestead did not do much better only gaining 69 yards on the ground, but their passing game did go for 166 yards which ended up being the difference. The DIII Blue Dukes should keeps their heads up in that they were in the game against DI Homestead the #1 ranked team in the State to the final play of the game! The Blue Dukes have only lost to DI Waukesha West, ranked #5 in the State and Homestead. In both of these games the Blue Dukes were in the game until the end, losing to each team by only 7 points. Next week Bay is at Cedarburg, another important game. GO BLUE DUKES!!!
October 10, 2009 - Freshmen Blue Dukes Continue Winning Ways with a Rout of Arch Rival Homestead, 41-2. The Whitefish Bay freshman football team continued its course toward an undefeated season by overpowering running plays and timely passes. This game was highlighted by the great blocking of the offensive line and the speed and agility of running backs Julian Posey, Jordan Johnson, Rashadeem Gray and Jacob Pandl. The defense rejected the repeated attempt of the Highlanders to drive deep into Whitefish Bay territory. Crushing tackling by Jacob Carlson, Peter Raczynski, Jacob Pandl, Michael Loyda and Ian Buchanan, among others, along with timely sacks by Quentin Dismukes and Graydon Peterson and an interception by Reese Ellis-McKinney, held the Highlanders to meager gains. Grant Menard started the scoring with a 9 yard quarterback run, which left the score at the end of the first quarter at 6-0. The Blue Dukes picked up the pace in the second quarter with a drive that included a 30 yard pass from Menard to Alec Monaghan and a 24 yard run by Jordan Johnson. After Posey punched the ball in from the six to make the score 12-0, Whitefish Bay recovered a Homestead fumble and ultimately scored again with a successful two-point conversion to bump the score to 20-0. The third quarter was highlighted by a 36 yard run by Posey for a touchdown, a fumble recovery by Posey and a 25 yard run by Rashadeem Gray for a touchdown. The quarter ended with the Blue Dukes up 35-0. The final quarter was capped by a tremendous goal line stand by the Dukes defense. After Bay got the ball back on their own two yard line, Homestead scored its only points of the afternoon by sacking the Bay runner for a safety. Immediately afterword, however, Patchen Tews recovered a Highlander fumble on the ensuing kickoff and Gray broke off a 45 yard run for the final score of the game. Final score: Whitefish Bay 41, Homestead 2. Next up for the freshmen is Cedarburg, at home, next Thursday, October 15th at 4:15 pm. See you there! By Jim Buchanan
October 10, 2009 - After three consecutive victories, the JV Blue Dukes lost at home on Thursday evening to The Salvation Army West Corps Panthers, 30-20. The Blue Dukes faced a bigger and deeper foe yet were ahead 20 - 8 with slightly less than four minutes remaining in the game. The Panthers then scored on a 56 yard pass play, and with the successful two point conversion, only trailed 20-16 with roughly three minutes left. The visitors defense then forced a three and out while using all of their time outs to conserve time. Rather than punting from deep in WFB territory, the Blue Dukes opted for a safety with punter John Platzer taking the snap and running out of the back of the end zone. That made the score 20-18 with just under a minute and a half left. The Panthers returned the ensuing kickoff back to their own 49 yard line and on the very next play, the Panthers quarterback kept the ball and ran around the right side, breaking no less than 5 tackles and going in for the touchdown. They missed the two point conversion and now led 24-20. WFB got the ball back with exactly one minute to go but on fourth down the ball was intercepted by the Panthers and returned for a touchdown. They again failed on the two point try, bringing the score to 30-20. WFB got the ball back but time ran out before the Blue Dukes could muster any more points. Devontae Johson scored two touchdowns for WFB and Michael Letizia added the other. The JV Blue Dukes try to even their record at 4-4 next Thursday night at Cedarburg. Game time is at 6:00 P.M. By Don Levings
October 7, 2009 - The Varsity Blue Dukes move up the ranks in the Division 3 State Coaches poll this week from 13th to 11th. This week Bay also cracked the top 10 football teams list at # 10 in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal Poll. Interesting that the first 6 positions are held by DI teams, the 7th & 8th positions by 2 DII teams and the last two positions are held undefeated DIII Pewaukee and Whitefish Bay. The Bay defense continues to hold the 2nd position in scoring defense for the area, with # 1 ranked Kewaskum and Bay both registering shut-outs last week. The Blue Dukes defense has shut-out 4 of its 6 opponents thus far this season. Nice job Blue Dukes!!!
October 2, 2009 - The Blue Dukes Qualify for the State Playoff's with 3 Games Remaining in the Season!!! The Blue Dukes Vsrsity continued their winning ways (5-1) with the offense (339 yds) scoring 32 points in the first half and smothering Grafton (125 yds) defensely with a shut-out! Highlights: 1st Qtr - Brian Kroll ran 35 yds for a TD. Kroll also ran successfully for the 2 pt cpnversion. Justin Alt put 6 pts on the board with a 5 yd run and he too was successful in running in the 2 pt conversion. 2nd Qtr - Kroll ran for a 5 yd TD and Cal Ehrke ran for the 2 pt conversion. Later Kroll again scored a TD on a 5 yd run and the 2 pt conversion was successfull when Will Hagerup caught an Ehrke pass. Big plays on the "BIG COUNTRY" defense was when Kroll picked off a Grafton pass shutting down another Grafton drive and a Henry Dixon blocked punt that was recovered by Garrett DeMuth. The defense allowed Grafton only 7 1st downs and forced Grafon to punt 7 times. Whitefish Bay 32, Grafton 0. Next week the Blue Dukes will travel to Homestead to play for the North Shore Conference Championship!
October 1, 2009 - The JV Blue Dukes continued their winning ways by beating the Grafton Blackhawks 45-12. This was their third consecutive victory and after losing the first three games, evens their record at 3-3. The game was close at the half with WFB leading 16-12. But after the intermission, the defense was impenetrable and the offensive line took control of the line of scrimmage. The Blue Dukes rushed for over 350 yards and dominated the time of possesion. Devontae Johnson scored 4 touchdowns rushing, including one for 83 yards. He also chipped in with a 73 punt return for a score. The other two touchdowns were scored by James Stecker, who just returned from the injured list, and by Michael Letizia. The players of the game however must be the O-line, who opened gaping holes all afternoon. The "Hogs" are Dan Wilson, Ryan Drews, Darone Spears, Chris Fuda and Nick Levings. The JV Blue Dukes will attempt to win their 4th in a row on Thursday, 10-08-09, with a night game vs. Custer High School. The game will be played in Lubar Stadium at Whitefish Bay High School. Start time is 6:30 P.M., after the freshman play Homestead, and will be the first time this JV squad has played under the lights. By Don Levings
October 1, 2009 - Blue Duke Freshmen Clip Blackhawks' Wings. Continue Undefeated after 50-0 Victory - The Whitefish Bay freshman football team steamrolled to lopsided victory over a gritty Grafton team Thursday night. While playing in a hostile environment and a second half downpour, the Blue Dukes won with an overpowering ground game spearheaded by Julian Posey, Rashadeem Gray, Jordan Jackson and Jacob Pandl. The first half was highlighted by a number of long, explosive runs that either went for touchdowns or set up short plunges for scores. Julian Posey had runs of 44 and 70 yards for touchdowns, while Jordan Johnson had a 27 yard touchdown run and Rashadeem Gray had a 13 yard run that set up another touchdown. Other highlights of the first half were and interceptions by Michael Loyda and Patchen Tews, a Tews sack of the Blackhawks quarterback and a successful Grant Menard to Alec Monaghan two-point conversion. The first half ended with the Blue Dukes ahead 42-0. With a driving rainstorm taking over the headlines of the second half, both teams found it difficult to put a long drive together. While Posey had an excellent 25 yard run that resulted in the Blue Dukes getting to within 11 yards of pay dirt, no scoring occurred in the third quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, however, Posey scored from the 6 yard line and pushed the score to 50-0 after a successful two-point conversion by Menard. Kelly Jackson and Graydon Peterson made some key tackles that allowed the Blue Dukes to run out the clock to secure their fourth consecutive victory. The Blue Dukes return to Lubar Stadium next Thursday, October 8th to face perennial rival Homestead at 4:15. By Jim Buchanan.
September 25, 2009 - On a night when it rains the entire game, offenses have a tendency to get bogged down in the qagmire and sputter. So it was, off and on, in the Varsity Bay (217 yds) - Port (147 yds) game for both offenses. Port's defense stacked the middle making it a rough night for Diontaye Brown, forcing the Dukes to run off-tackle and wide. Playing on grass for the second time this year, the off-tackle and sweep runs were treacherous on the wet, slow, field at Port, but this is where Bay mustered most of its ground yards. On nights like this it is important that the defense play as a team and help the offense as much as possible, which is exactly what the D did! The Blue Duke Defense ranked 4th in scoring defense in the area has only allowed 21 points in 5 games and has not allowed a score for the past 3 games. This no-name defense is also a true scoring defense in that in they have put points on the board in multiple games, including 8 against Port. The defense is played by Jack Beck (who had a big game against Port and continues to improve weekly), Elric Erving, Garrett DeMuth, Dan Tutino, Henry Dixon, Viktor Gottlieb, Tim Haberli, Mike Letizia, Joe Lucey, Brian Kroll, Gabe Aleman, Jackson Weber & Justin Alt. HIGHLIGHTS: In the 1st Qtr - Brian Kroll let out some steam on a Port receiver and Garrett DeMuth recovered the fumble. Later in the Qtr Dan Tutino picked up a Port dropped ball in their backfield and advanced it 7 yards. Later in the Qtr Jack Beck tackled the Port QB for a safety scoring 2 for the Blue Dukes. In the 2nd Qtr - the offense was able to move the ball and QB Cal Ehrke (8-13-149-0) hit Paul Davis (7-140) on a 35 yd TD pass to put Bay up by 9. Later in the the Qtr, Jackson Weber picked off a Port pass and returned it 17 yards before being tackled. 3rd Qtr - The Bay Offense receiving the ball on its own 20 yd line, put up a terrific sustained quarter eating drive which ended with a 1 yd Ehrke boot for the TD putting the Dukes up by 15 and essentially putting the game away on a dreary night. 4th Qtr - The highlight in the 4th was that Justin Alt was substituted in on a play where he barely got on the field and in position for the play before he promptly picked off a Port pass taking it 55 yards to the house, putting the icing on the cake for the Blue Dukes win!!! Whitefish Bay 21, Port Wasington 0. The Dukes are now 4-1 having only lost to Division I Waukesha West, presently ranked 5th in the State. The Blue Dukes have an opportunity to qualify for the Playoff's next Friday at 7:00 PM by beating the Grafton Blackhawks (1-4) at WFB's Lubar Field. GO BLUE DUKES!!!
September 24, 2009 - The JV Blue Dukes built on the momentum from their first win by beating the Port Washington Pirates on Thursday, 09-24-09 on the Pirates home field, 12-0. The defense dominated the game and pitched their first shutout of the season. Even though the JV Blue Dukes only suited up 16 players for the game, and with many playing on both sides of the ball, they brought intense energy for all four quarters. The fourth quarter was highlighted by two hugh quarterback sacks by Ryan Drews who had just returned after missing the previous game while on the injured list. On the offensive side, Michael Letizia scored his first high school touchdown on a three yard run while Devontae Johnson scored the other six Whitefish Bay points on a 73 yard run from scrimmage. the JV Blue Dukes will go for their third win in a row against Grafton on Thursday, 10-01-09, at 4:15 P.M. at Lubar Stadium at WFBHS. September 24, 2009 - Blue Duke Frosh Go to 3 - 0. The Whitefish Bay freshman football team continued its perfect season on Thursday afternoon with a 56-16 win over Port Washington in the Blue Dukes home opener. The first half was all Bay. After Port turned over the ball on downs, Grant Menard started the offensive explosion with a 50 yard run to the Pirate's 15 yard line. A couple of plays later, Julian Posey scored from the one. The extra point was good and the Blue Dukes led 7-0. Posey started the second quarter with a 22 yard run to Bay's 30, and Rashadeem Gray followed that up with a 70 yard run for a touchdown to give the Blue Dukes a 13-0 lead. The Pirates eventually turned the ball over on downs and the Blue Duke offense went right back to work. Menard hit Darien Walker on a slant over the left side and Walker sped down the sideline for 33 yards. Posey then punched it in from the one. After a successful two point conversion, the half ended with Bay leading 21-0. The Blue Dukes took the opening kickoff of the second half straight down the field. Included in that drive was a 22 yard pass completion from Menard to Posey, followed by another explosive 53 yard run by Gray for a touchdown. This put Bay up 27-0. The Pirates then managed to put a drive together and scored the first touchdown on the Blue Duke frosh this year. They got the two point conversion and narrowed the gap to 27-8. After a Bay fumble, the Pirates came right back and scored again with a successful two point conversion to make the score 27-16. But that was all the booty the Pirates would manage to collect on this day. Bay stormed back with a drive of its own that included a 48 yard run by Gray for a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion to up the score to 35-16. The fourth quarter opened with an interception by Reese Ellis-McKinney at the Pirate's 37. Jordan Johnson ran 36 yards to the one, and Jacob Pandl punched it in for a 43-16 lead. On their next possession, Bay scored again, highlighted by a 64 yard run by Johnson for a touchdown. That made the score 50-16. After another interception, this time by Andre Nicholson, Bay scored on a 22yard run by Grant Menard, making the final score 56-16. Notable tackles were made by Jacob Carlson, Michael Loyda, Graydon Peterson and Patchen Tews. Kelly Jackson had a memorable sack of the Pirate's quarterback. Next up for the freshmen is at Grafton next Thursday, October 1st at 6 pm. By Jim Buchanan
September 17, 2009 - Ok...Get This - The Blue Dukes Varsity beat Germantown tonight 32 - 6 and it wasn't even that close! The Blue Dukes defense didn't even allow G-Town to score. G-Town scored on a Blue Duke fumble in the Bay end zone. Highlights of the game are: in the 1st quarter Gabe Aleman recovered a G-Town fumble which Bay converted in to a TD when Brian Kroll (24-166) took it in from the 2. Then Aleman intercepted a pass added a 25 yard return which Bay converted in the second quarter into a TD with a 3 yard run by Justin Alt. Also in the second quarter QB Cal Ehrke through a 21 yard TD pass to Paul Davis. The score was 18 - 0 at the half. In the 3rd quarter the Blue Dukes took the opeing drive 80 yards for TD, finishing with a 4 yard Kroll run. The 2 point conversion was successful when Alt caught the pass from Ehrke. On the next G-Town possession Garrett DeMuth recoverd a G-Town fumble. In the 4rth quarter G-Town recovered the Bay fumble in the end zone for their score, but Aleman intercepted the attempt for the 2 point conversion. Lastly Bay scored on a 9 yard run by Kroll. The defense again played as a team with everyone contributing holding G-Town to 215 yards and scoreless. The offense racked up a total of 349 yards with 280 of that on the ground. Besides Kroll, Deontaye Brown had a big night rusing for many tough yards up the middle and Alt did a nice job on the sweeps and counters. Nice job Blue Dukes!!! Next week Bay plays at Port Washington.
September 17, 2009 - On Wednesday the Junior Varsity football team resumed play after a brief absence with a road game and their first win of the season, a resounding 47-6 thumping of Riverside University High School. After falling behind 6-0, the JV Blue Dukes scored a touchdown right before the half and converted on the two point conversion to go into the break leading 8-6. They then outscored the Tigers 39-0 in the second half. A strong running game highlighted the victory. There were touchdowns runs by Devontae Johnson and Khang Xiong, a touchdown pass to Devontae and a long kickoff return from Devontae. Special recognition goes to Matthew Traudt who started his first ever game at quarterback and ran the team like a veteran and even threw his first touchdown pass. Also, there was hard tough inside running from Michael Letizia who was starting his first game in the backfield. The defense was stout the whole game and their effort was culminated by a fumble return for a touchdown by A.J. Threats. Once again, they played this game with 15 kids, most of them obviuosly playing the whole game, offense, defense and special teams. Congratulations to the players and coaches for their perserverence and now their first victory of the season. The JV will be on the road again next week Thursday, 09-24-09 at 6:00 P.M. at Port Washington. Here's to continued success.

September 17, 2009 - Blue Duke Frosh Stay Perfect - The Whitefish Bay freshman football team kept its quest for a perfect season in tact on Wednesday night with a 13 - 0 victory over a gritty Germantown team. The action really started in the first quarter with a sack of the Germantown quarterback by Quentin Dismukes. It allowed the Blue Dukes to open on offense at the opponents' 31 yard line. After a 21 yard run by Julian Posey, Grant Menard connected with Rashadeem Gray for the Dukes first touchdown. The extra point was good. After an interception by Reese Ellis-McKinney (who had another later in the game), WFB began its drive on the Germantown 40. It was the Rashadeem Gray show on that drive as he coupled a 25 yard run with a 5 yard scamper for a touchdown. This time, however the extra point failed and the score at half time was WFB 13, Germantown 0. The third and fourth quarters were defensive standoffs, with neither team making much headway against the other. The quarters were highlighted by two stellar interceptions by Michael Loyda and Reese Ellis-McKinney in the end zone. The Blue Dukes finally managed to run out the clock. Next, the Blue Dukes have their home opener against Port Washington on Thursday, September 24 at Lubar Stadium. (By Jim Buchanan)
September 15, 2009 - We annually invite Greg Lofy of Action Sports Photgraphy to shoot a Blue Dukes game some time during the season. You may have noticed that Greg was on the sidelines taking shots of the WFB vs. Nicolet game last week. While our volunteer website photographers do an excellent job, Greg does a great job too. Here is the link to his website: Action Sports Photography. You will note that there are 206 photo's of players and 53 photo's of the cheerleading squad. Here are a couple of photo's from Greg.

September 11, 2009 - The Blue Dukes Varsity offense (363 yds) continues to roll, while the defense (210) continues not allow scores. In the first quarter QB Cal Ehrke (13-15-170-1) ran a boot leg to the left side scoring from 12 yards out. Later Ehrke threw a 6 yard TD pass to Justin Alt. Then Brian Kroll intercepted a pass to finish out the quarter. In the 2nd quarter Ehrke threw a 22 yard TD to Paul Davis on 4th down with just seconds left in the half to make it 21-0 at the half. In the third quarter Ehrke again struck Davis for a 15 yard TD pass. Nicolet scored on a short 1 yard run up the middle. In the 4th quarter Gabe Aleman picked off a Nicolet pass and took it 55 yards to the house!!! Later Jackson Weber picked off another Nicolet pass which led to a Will Hagerup 27 yard field goal. Garrett Demuth, Jack Beck, Tim Haberli and Joe Lucey did well and made significant tackles on defense. Whitefish Bay 38, Nicolet 7
September 11, 2009 - The freshmen football team got off to a convincing start last night with a 54-0
win at Nicolet. With a high-powered offense that put up 41 points in the first half and a smothering defense that kept Nicolet off the scoreboard, we will be a force in the conference this year. Come out and support them next week as we take on Germantown on the road Wednesday at 6:00.
September 4, 2009 - The Blue Dukes Varsity offense, defense & special teams hit on all cylinders tonight. The offense (484 yds) came alive with Cal Ehrke (12-20-222-0) throwing repeated strikes to Paul Davis (6-125) & Jack Fagan. The rushing game also gained ground with both Sophmore Diontaye Brown (23-112) and Brian Kroll (15-110) racking up the yards. The defense (Slinger 75 yds) played as a composite team shutting down the Slinger offense on many 3 and outs. Slinger did mount one sustained drive down the field and after a penalty was left with 1st down on the 3 yard line, only to be stymied by the Blue Duke defense which held them out of the end zone for 4 downs and scoreless. Will Hagerup kicked a 49 yard and a 37 yard field goals at a time in the game when they were meaningful. Notes: 1st Qtr - 49 Yd FG by Will Hagerup, 2nd Qtr - Fumble Recovery by Brian Kroll, 1 Yd TD run by Kroll, Hagerup PAT, On-Side Kick Recovery - Joe Lucey, 3rd Qtr - 37 Yd FG by Hagerup, 38 Yd TD Pass by Cal Ehrke to Kroll, Hagerup Pat, Fumble Recovery - Dan Tutino, 7 Yd TD run by Ehrke, Lucey PAT, 4th Qtr - 4 Down Goal Line Stand by Blue Dukes Defense, 53 Yd TD Pass Ehrke to Kroll, Lucey PAT Blocked. Whitefish Bay 33, Slinger 0
September 3, 2009 - The Bay JV lost 46-7 to Slinger in their first away game of the year. Bay had 14 players suited up for the game and after three got hurt, played most of the fourth quarter with just 11 players. The game was tied 7-7 early in the 2nd quarter and Bay was outscored 39-0 after that with Slinger making numerous big plays over a depleted Bay squad. It was 26-7 at the half and then Slinger returned the opening kickoff of period two for a touchdown making it 33-7. On offense, James Stecker ran hard until he succumbed to a hamstring injury, scoring the team's only touchdown on an 8 yard run up the middle behind nice blocking by the offensive line. Once again, Jack Fagan did a great job at wide receiver, hauling in three passes. On special teams, John Platzer kicked his first ever high school PAT and punted and kicked off well. On defense Dan Wilson made a some nice tackles. (By Don Levings)
August 28, 2009 - The Blue Dukes Varsity Offense struggled in the opener at Waukesha West, a game that was lightning delayed by over an hour. The offense gained 180 yards in the game primarily due to 4 turnovers (2 fumbles and 2 interceptions) and numerous dropped passes which would have sustained drives. The defense which was on the field a good part of the game gave up 279 yards, but only 14 points in a bend but not break effort. Unfortunately on the West scoring drives the Dukes allowed the conversions of several 3rd and long situations. Waukesha 14, Whitefish Bay 7
August 27, 2009 - The WFB JV suited up 17 players for the Waukesha West game at WFB. The first half did not go well for the Blue Dukes giving up 33 points while scoring none. The second half Bay played to a 6-6 draw. Jack Fagan caught 4-5 passes from Connor Weas, 2 terrific catches while being double teamed. Waukesha 39, Whitefish Bay 6.

Oct. 29, 2008 - The Blue Dukes traveled to 9-0 Pewaukee last evening for WIAA Level I Division III Playoff Game. For the second year in a row the Blue Dukes qualified for the playoff's, but unfortunately were not able to get past the first level. Pewaukee who had averaged 39 points per game during the regular season was able to rack up 404 yds of offense, with 294 yds on the ground. Jimmy Sherburne and the Blue Duke receiving corp (Pat Sullivan, Grady Buchanan, Dylan Gates & Lerone Spears) were able to pass for 191 yds, with a chunk of that coming on the last drive. Bay scored on a 1 yard run by Sherburne. The PAT attempt by Joe Lucey was blocked. The Dukes also ran for 83 yds, led by Sherburne, Spears, Brian Kroll & Sam Domjen. On defense Nick Desien intercepted a Pat Bacon pass. Pat Fagan, Kroll & Matt Kowalsky led the team in tackles.

Oct. 23, 2008 - Congrat's to the Varsity Blue Dukes who tied for 2nd place in the Might Northshore Conference! Now it's on to the Playoff's.
GO BLUE DUKES!!!
Oct. 22, 2008 - The Varsity Blue Dukes won an ugly game by beating the Nicolet Knights 9-7. First String QB Jimmy Sherburne did not suit up for the game, which allowed Sophmore QB Cal Ehrke the opportunity to gain some valuable experience for the 2009 season. The coaches kept the pressure off of Ehrke by going primarily with a ground control offense. The majority of the rushing yards were earned by a persistent Lerone Spears. Cal Ehrke had several signicant boot runs later in the game which kept drives alive. It was Spears that scored on a 3 yd run and Joe Lucey who kicked a 32 yd field goal to make the difference in points to win the game. The Game Ball though should go to the defense which continues to improve with each game. The defense allowed only 7 points in the game and Pat Fagan picked off a Huntsinger pass to ice the game on Nicolet's final drive!
Oct. 21, 2008 - The JV Blue Dukes finished a successful season going 5-4 with a 33-0 win over Nicolet. The Blue Dukes put up a balanced attack with 188 yds on the ground and 174 yds through the air. Cal Ehrke went 9 of 16 for 3 TD's, 2 of which were caught by Davontae Johnson and 1 by Ryan Callanan. Johnson and Mike Leckie both ran for a TD. On defense Game Aleman picked off 2 interceptions and Alec Forrer registered a sack. Congrat's to Coaches Rob Young, Markell Thompson and the JV Blue Dukes on a Successful Season!!!
Oct. 18, 2008 - The defensive adjustments made by Coach Jim Tietjen and his staff paid off as the Blue Dukes Defense jelled enough to bend, yet not break. The Blue Dukes held a good Port offense to just 7 points for the game. Matt Kowalsky forced a fumble picked up by Nick Desien who also had a TD saving interception. Pat Fagan had a TD saving tackle and a nice pass deflection. On offense the passing numbers may have not been as prolific as with previous games, but the attack was more balanced. The offensive line (Charlie Knipper, Eitan Babcock, Matt Ahlstedt, Elliot Powell, Taylor Hoff & C.J. Fuda) opened up nice alley's for Lerone Spears and Joe Fiorita. The line also held up the passing rush enough for Jimmy Sherburne to spray the ball around to a host of contributing receivers (Pat Sullivan, Dylan Gates, Spears, & Nick Desien). Points were scored by a strong 28 yard field goal by Joe Lucey and a heads up play by Joe Fiorita who picked up a Sherburne fumble on the last play of the game and ran it into the end zone, not that the officiating staff ever noticed!!! (See the highlight video for Fiorita's heads-up play.) With this win, the Blue Dukes qualified for the Playoff's for the second year in a row! WFB 9, Port Washington 7
Oct. 17, 2008 - The JV Blue Dukes beat the Port Washington Pirates 18-13 at Lubar Stadium. Offensively the Dukes scored on a 22 yd pass from Cal Ehrke to Mike Leckie and 5 yd run by Joe Fiorita which was set up by a 38 yd pass from Ehrke to Dillon Roloff. The Blue Duke rushing game led by Ryan Grych, Jerry Poll-Walloch, Jamie Klett, Austin Hill & Jaun Bartkowski-Gomez was able to open up significant holes in the Pirate defense for Fiorita, Leckie and Taylor Young all day to rush for 146 yds.. Defensively the Blue dukes recovered 1 fumble and picked off 3 passes, 1 by Leckie and 2 by Paul Davis, who took the second one 60 yds to the house! Mike Letizia recovered a fumble to stymie another Prate possession.
Oct. 17, 2008 - The Blue Duke Freshmen lost at Port Washington Thursday evening 30-22.

The Varsity Blue Dukes, who rank 5th in state with an average of 206 yards per game in offensive passing, threw for 2 TD's, one to Dylan Gates (7/118) in the first quarter and one to Grady Buchanan in the third quarter. But it was the defense that put the Blue Dukes ahead for good when Joe Lucey picked off an Anton Wagner pass and took it 33 yards to the house and then kicked the PAT! The Blue Duke Defense held the Blackhawks scoreless in the fourth quarter to preserve the HOMECOMING VICTORY!!! WFB 21, Grafton 17.
Oct. 3, 2008 - Homecoming Tailgate this evening before the game at the high school east courtyard.
Oct. 2, 2008 - The JV Blue Dukes beat Grafton Thursday evening 41-6 at Lubar Stadium. 1st Qtr highlights included a 35 yard TD run by Davantae Johnson (Joe Lucey PAT), a 55 yard punt by Joe Lucey and an INT by Gabe Aleman in the endzone to stop a Blackhawk score. In the 2nd QTR Cal Ehrke ran for a 11 yard TD (Lucey PAT) and Dan Tutino partially blocked a punt and had a sack. In the 3rd QTR Bobbie Rinka ran 2 yards for a TD (Lucey PAT) and Michael Leckie ran 6 yards for another TD (Lucey PAT). 4th QTR featured a Taylor Young 46 yard run for a TD (Lucey PAT), a Joe Lucey Interception, a 52 yard TD run by Davantae Johnson and a 2 yard TD run by Deonte Brown.

Jimmy Sherburne again threw for over 200 yards to Pat Sullivan, Grady Buchanan, Larone Spears, Davantae Johnson and Nick Desien (Bay Passing Offense Ranks 8th in State). Sherburne connected with Desien on a 62 yard sideline touchdown pass. Sherburne and Spears also each ran for a score. Will Hagerup kicked a 44 yard field goal and Joe Lucey kicked 3 PAT's. Hagerup also improved the Blue Duke's field position by hitting his first 60+ yard punt this year! Brian Kroll intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop a long Germantown drive. WFB 24, G-Town 10!
Sept. 25, 2008 - The JV Blue Dukes lost a tail of two half's. They won the first half 20 to 6. The defense had a strong goal line stand that ended with Dan Tutino recovering a Germantown fumble on the 2 yard line. On the next play Cal Ehrke threw a TD pass to Zach Hessel that went the 98 yard distance! Ehrke also had a 40 yard pass to Dillon Roloff and a 50 yard TD pass to Roloff. In the second half Germantown's defense stymied the Blue Duke Offense due to missed assignments and it became a long game for the Blue Duke defense. Germantown 28, WFB 20.
Sept. 25, 2008 - The Blue Duke freshmen lose to Germantown at home 16 to 13.
Sept. 19, 2008 - The Blue Duke Varsity Offense scored the first points of the season against Cedarburg's defense, but the Dukes high powered passing offense (ranked 9th in WI) was shut down with only 61 yards passing. The Blue Dukes had several opportunities to score but turned over the ball 5 times (3 by air and 2 on the ground) to Cedarburg who did not turn over the ball. The Dukes Defense gave up 420 yards, although they were on the field a significant part of the game. Momentum swung several times in a game that should have been closer. The Bay play of the game was an on-side sideline loop kick by Joe Lucey recovered on the fly by Ryland Tews. Cedarburg 42, WFB 7
Sept. 18, 2008 - The JV Blue Dukes defense had a difficult time stopping Cedarburg's misdirection running game. Cedarburg who ran on more than 90% of their plays were consistently able to move the chains throughout the game. The Blue Duke offense had relatively poor field postion in the first half, misfired at times with better field positon in the second half. The Blue Dukes kick-off team recovered 1 of 2 on-side kicks. Bay scored on a 37 yard field goal by Joe Lucey and a pass from Cal Ehrke to Dillion Rolof.

Charlie Knipper recovered a fumble in the endzone for yet another score. Will Hagrup kicked a strong 35 yard field goal and Joe Lucey converted the PAT's. The Blue Duke defense gave up 420 yards in a game of bend, but not break. The Dukes coaching staff was over-heard after the game saying that Monday was going to be a tough practice!
Sept. 11, 2008 - Freshman Blue Dukes lose on the road at Milwaukee Lutheran 40-19.
Sept. 11, 2008 - JV Blue Dukes dominated on both sides of the ball. The offense never needed to punt the ball. Cal Ehrke and Corps (Matsapola, Fagan, Hessel**, Leckie, Roloff* & Bartkowski-Gomez) go 13/17 190 yds and 3 TD's*. The Dukes also gained over 6 yds per carry rushing for 3 TD's* and 173 yards on just 28 carries (Young*, Leckie**, Fiorita, & Rinka). On defense Dan Tutino, Mmusso Matasapola & Jeff Cebe had a big day! Tutino registered an INT, a fumble recover and a blocked punt, which lead to a TD. Matsapola who had 3 receptions for 61 yds on offense, had 2 INT's with 48 return yds and Cebe sacked the Milw. Lutheran QB for a safety! Tim Haberli lead the tackles category with 4.
Sept. 5, 2008 - The Blue Duke Varsity took on the Slinger Owls at Slinger and walked away with a 21-0 victory. The offense got off to a slow start until the offensive line took command of the line of scrimmage. The defense did a fine job holding the Owls scoreless and scored a touchdown when defensive lineman James Stoeffel hit the Slinger QB in the end zone causing a fumble that was recovered by defensive lineman Anthony Carabajal. (See Stat's and Print Media Links for more information)
Sept. 4, 2008 - JV Blue Dukes Defense held the Slinger Owls to a net 50 yards offense (The Owls gained 60 yards on the very first drive) for the game. Alec Forrer & company scored a safety on the owls. The Offense scored on a Cal Ehrke 46 yard pass play to Dillon Roloff and 2 Joe Fiorita rushes. A Joe Lucey interception for TD was called back due to a roughing the passer call. Better blocking, tackling and coffin corner punting showed a much improved special team play this week. (See Stat's for more information.)
Aug. 30, 2008 - The Blue Duke produced 373 yards of offense, 300 in the air with Jimmy Sherburne (24-36, 69%, 2 TD's, 1 Int.) connecting with Dylan Gates (3 yds.) and Pat Sullivan for TD's (33 yds.). The Duke's last drive set up a last second 35 yard Joe Lucey field goal that was wide to the right. Final: Waukesha 14, Bay 12.
